Well, we all seem to talk & be concerned about are spark/ignition systems in our trucks--look at all the posts!Question--instead of replacing plugs/wires when our vehicles don't run right, why not use a spark analyzer...I am looking at digital machine(Kal Equip/Actron& Alltest) that inductively(clips on plug wires) to evaluate things light peak voltage, burn voltage, burn time...I trialed it on my truck,it's a neat machine& beats aimlessly changing plugs and wires..it may pinpoint bad plug/wire when needed...only thing I cant find reference values/ranges anywhere...any experts out there/any suggested values/would you recommend something like this?? Thanks...

Here is some information...
OTC(1-800-533-6127/www.otctools.com) has 500dollar DAT/digital automotive tester No. 3543 or No. 3545. I went O'Reillys and they showed me a Spark Anayzer/Kal Equipment number 2696( 203 dollars, sorry no web site). Lastly, JC Whitney.com advertises digital ignition analyzer(SKU 71zx0647b 149dollars)....
Let me know what you think......thanks

Well, I have some more information....
After looking through archives, someone posted questions about a probe scope/oscilloscope via labtop to measure secondary ignition voltage(post done 1 Sept 2000); he referred to a PC based oscilliscope/pichotech.co.uk web site....
anybody have any ideas/insight/experience on any of this....

The OTC DAT stuff are merely expensive multimeters. I noticed a "Vision Premier" product on their site that would be a real ignition analyser. I have no idea how much it costs. It is an adjunct to a PC. Typically this kind of stuff is specialized for big shops with deep pockets.

not to drag up older topics, but does anyone have any ideas(either good or bad) on a spark ignition analyzer? I am only bringing it up since I think it would be agreat adjunct to a scan tool in SYTY vehicles.....
