The previous owner of my truck had some one make a rectangular wood cut out of the same size of the old speaker grill that would cover the factory speakers and cover it with fabric and cut out two holes for 6 1/2 mids and a 1 inch tweeter. it looks great just wish I had a camera to show you. Hope it helps

Hey...About the speakers...I am an installer at Sound Connection Car Audio in Union, New Jersey...I am planning a serious system for my Ty when I get it so I have been doin some research to the specs of the truck and different things, but as for you, you dont always have to go with a 6x9, you can make a custom piece, we do it all the time at work, we use either ABS plastic or 1/4 inch ply to make them, just be sure to Dynamat the area behind and around the speaker very well, building custom pieces may cause the speaker to rattle a tiny bit, as for brand, im stuck on Focal, Focal has an extensive line of speakers that will surpass MBQ with ease, there a fairly new company to car audio...about 6 or 7 years, they began making home audio speakers, but they are what I advise people to purchase all day long, they are on the expensive side but they are well worth it. As for replacing it with just a 6x9 to fit the factory location, I would just be sure to try and get a 3-way speaker froma company such as Polk or Rockford Fosgate, I would honeslty spend the extra money to replace all the speakers and amp them. If you have any other questions feel more then free to ask me, you can respond back to this or you can email me at Padre0226@aol.com
