Stamped hood louvers

Anyone know of someone somewhat local (NE Pa) that can louver my hood? I remember seeing only one other truck here with that done. Just a different approach. Thanks...Jim

Re: Stamped hood louvers

I'm sure most actual hotrod shops can do it. I've thought about it for the pass side fender. But not sure if it would look gay or not.

Done in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 1999. Lowered my coolant temps by 18-20 degrees on a controlled test. Lots of heat escapes, but forget driving in the rain.

Nice truck! I wonder if one of those cervini's dual ram air hoods would work on cooler temps?

Re: Stamped hood louvers

Just got to a street rodder that has louvers on his ride and ask him who did them. I had my old v-8 s-15 hood done with 96 louvers in it. Worked great to keep it from over heating, but you better cover the hood when it rains, I went through intake gaskets like crazy.

Gary, Very nice. Poconojoe, Thanks for the link, it will be very helpful. I did stop at a hotrod shop in Nazareth, but they could not help me themselves or point me in the right direction...Jim

Re: Stamped hood louvers

Paul, Do you have more pictures of the louvers? Maybe side view, or top view? I searched the net and found a guy that sells 18ga panels that are 7" by 24" with either 18 louvers stamped straight, or 17 louvers stamped on a 15 degree angle. Since this is such a lost art, I'm considering getting a donor hood and having these cut in. I have a friend that is doing my roofrack delete and respraying the entire roof for $400. So I can't imagine having this done will be out of line pricewise. I'm leaning towards the angled louvers in the same position as yours. Oh, the louvers cost $2 each plus a flat rate shipping for the panel of $8 I believe. So $84 for two louvered panels shipped seems like the way to go. Thanks all for responding...Jim

I sent Richard some pics of another stock hood with louvers in it, maybe he can post up pics.

I got the pair of steel panels with louvers punched into them from a guy on eBay. The hood is currently being prepped and painted.
