Studder @ WOT... HELP!

MjP

Banned
ok folks, in 4'th, 3rd, and sometimes even 2nd gear, i have a studder @ WOT....

background:

ignition
msd superconductor wires, conrad C&R, stock coil

fuel:
dequick AFPR @ about 45psi, walbro 255lph 80psi fuel pump, stock injectors
fuel pressure stays right where it should be

haven't checked plugs, but were new about 7000 miles ago...
needs an oil change
intercooler system is not circulating
sometimes i have a small lifter tap

HELP ME..... i thought it was a fuel issue.... but i've tuned the crap out of it.... and it wont seem to fucking work.....

could it be bad injectors?

thanks,

mike

Just got back from taking a look at your site, nice by the way. Anyhoo, I noticed under your mods section to put a 3bar map in instead of the 2 bar, but you didn't say anything about putting in a 3bar chip at the same time. I figure that you probably already know that you have to run the 2 together but I have to ask. Are you running a 3bar map with a 2 bar chip? If so then there is your problem cause you would be running way to lean under boost. At ~15 pounds actual boost your computer would only think your at ~4 or 5. If your not then I would have to say to check out the plugs and then recheck the wires and cap. Are you running a scan tool of some kind?
Good Luck

I've seen spark plugs go in far less time then 7000 miles, I would change those right away and you might as well do the plug wires and cap and rotor at the same time. As sean morris used to always say, "Ignition Ignition Ignition". You also need to get the water in the intercooler circulating, your matt temps must be through the roof especially if EGR is still working.

Mjp,

I have the same problem, I put in new plugs, wires, cap/rotor, coil, afpr, fuel pump, ic pump, and my damn IC isn't circulating any fluid. At about 1000 rpms my throttle is about 80% unresponsive, and when it shifts it chokes right afterwords. My fuel pressure's about 50lbs. I posted a TV cable question a couple of days ago and the consensus was to replace my throttle cable (if you have datamaster check on your TPS, mine would only hit 90% when maxed out.)

If either of you aren't circulating IC fluid fix it now!! Don't do any diacom runs or WOT passes. When my IC pump died on the Ty many moons ago I was at full throttle and was seeing my mat temps go through the roof (200 deg + if memory serves correct). Thats how I figured out the pump had shit the bed. High mat temps = knock, I am not saying this is the cause of your problems, but it definately needs to be fixed before you do anymore diagnosis or else you could have more serious problems like needing a new motor.
