subwoofer box for Ty

Unfortunately not. I looked and looked and looked and found nothing. I checked with JL, MTX, Q-Form etc, all those companies that do vehicle-specific preformed/premade boxes. I ended up using a "bazooka style" tube sub in mine. There's definitely nothing stealthy about it, as you can look right in the back window and see it. But as small as it is, I don't think anyone's going to bother it. It's only a 6 3/4" sub. I'm not looking to enter any contests with it, I just wanted something that sounded good at comfortable listening levels. Well actually, I was totally surprised how good it sounds. The acoustics of the Typhoon/Blazer/Jimmy interior are incredible. No kidding, it sounds every bit as good as an 8" sub. If I ever blow it up, I'm gonna try an 8" next time. I'm running an Alpine 5 channel amp for all the speakers, including the sub. I actually have it mounted BEHIND the right rear interior trim panel. It BARELY fits. You can't even tell anything is back there. It's actually kind of nice having a "tube" style sub. I didn't use brackets to mount it, I used straps. The brackets used to cinch the straps are behind the spring-loaded board that goes up against the back seat. The straps run under the board, around the tube, and over the board. I left myself quite a bit of slack with the wiring, so if I need to haul something, I can fold the back seat down, unstrap it, and move the tube nearly anywhere in the back. No mounting brackets to worry about breaking off. It fits nicely in the little cubby that's created right behind the driver's seat with the back seat down. Although, here's the strange part: It doesn't sound like it has even half the output behind the driver's seat as it does mounted in the back with the back seat up. Must be that acoustics thing I was talking about. I know it's not what you're looking for, I just thought I'd let you know what I did after trying so hard to find something stealthy. If you would like pics of the setup, just let me know. I don't get to this board very often, so you might want to email me rather than PM me.

i was into this a few years back...had a blazer.......i designed and built a box that fit in the back with a cloth material over top where it looked totally stock...had 3 JL's10w6's at the time firing down at the floor. Had 500watts to them and my roof literally moved up and down. You could not sit in the thing for very long...i agree that a 8 would sound good by itself...i'd go 10 but thats me. been awile for me though..........

Thanks for the reply, but i already made my own box,
i used a 600W Sony Explod woofer, i wish i had something smaller, but than again i had to buy it, and this one came from my daily.

Can make some pics if annybody wants to see it, took 4 hours to build it, AND it sounds good.

Ya if you guys want somthing custom, anything you can dream up can be made out of fiberglass. I'm going to work on somthing for my ty to get my 8W7 and my pheniox gold Ti amp if I ever get the damn thing running right.

I made two boxes for my Ty. there is one on each side. I cant say they are stealthy but I get a lot of compliments on them. People are always impressed when I tell them that I made them. As much as it killed me, I use two amps and was pretty much forced to put them in the back seat. Yes, I cut the back of the seat out. They sit in an indented box fit to size with a plexi-glass window. I used 6 mini-fans to keep them cool. 3 push in, 3 push out. The boxes have the 10's at a 45* angle hitting the back window. That was the recommended position for them by all the installers around here. I made the boxes out of wood for the outside and fiberglass to match the contours of the walls and floor.

this is what I made for my truck about 2 years ago...

Im probably going to be redoing everything in my truck over the next year or two. I think im going to ditch the twin 12" cerwins and just go with a single 10" JL or something on the right side and put the spare tire back, unless I put in a subfloor. I also plan on hiding the amps and capacitors and trying to make everything a little more "stealth".

Those Cerwin Vegas are really good subs if you have the right sized box. It looks like you have the 2.25 cubic feet per sub with gigantic ports on there.

It's amazing the bad rep those subs have gotten when all that is needed is a properly built box for them to sound really really good.

yes, I designed the box specifically for those speakers. The subs call for 2.22 cu. ft. each in a ported setup, the box is approximately 4.44 cu. ft. with twin 4" ports, 9" in length.

Thats what I was looking for. Ive seen smaller boxes for sure but they sound awsome and there is still quite a bit of space left. .
