what about hooking up a gear vendors unit to a turbo 350 or 400? it seems like lingenfelter has had some luck with those things.

Ugh, that spells driveline nightmares. Overdrive unit is pretty much a simple transfercase. So you'd have to run the transmission, the overdrive unit, then the stock transfercase. ~12" of additional drivetrain length, if it could be mated up to the transfercase easily, that is.

There is another one out there, V2OD or something. Slightly cheaper than the Gear Vendors ( GV 2200-2800 vs V2OD 1800 or so).

Mine and Tonys tranny woes have been with the torque converters.

Tony has a TCS (in the states) and it has loosened up so much the truck is undrivable.

Mine is from TCS (in canada) they have been trying to get the stall speed right for my truck and the lock up with no slip.

They have mine set up really good now and will be building billet converters for us over the winter.

As to how long the 700r4 and 4l60/4l60e will last is a crap shot. If I make it one season before a rebuild I willl be happy. If not I will be looking into other trannys. Keep this in mine with a t-400 a lock up option is big bucks so it you go with a nonlock up tranny the stall converter will be major pain to set up properly so that its loose at the bottom and tight at the top. This is one reason to go with the 4L80E.
If you want more info on t-400's go to turbobuick.com and do a search on t-400.
