tci trans controller

all righty, got 4l60e and a tci controller. if I hook up the tci mph wires to the speedo sensor in the transfer case without the factory wiring hooked up the trans and it upshifts like it should. if I try to splice into the factory wires coming out of speedo sensor with everything hooked up the tci and factory speedo must cancel each other out and neither the dash speedo or tci controller work. do I have to just deal with no factory dash speedo or is there a way to make both jive and live in harmony?
thanks dave p in advance lol

Just a guess but you should probably be hooking that TCI unit up to an output on the DRAC and not the sensor directly..

Or, does your 60e have a TOSS sensor you can wire to then leave the factory stuff hooked up to the transfercase sensor?

No I don't believe the 60e has a toss sensor, just the one big plug for the tci unit, so I need to tap into the factory mph system. Here it goes, wtf is the drac? Don't laugh to hard Iam still learning these at terms. But yes I was trying to splice into the sensor on the transfer case. By the way this tci unit is a used piece so Iam trying to figure it out and the software that came with it is not much help and does not tell you where to hook up for mph readings . More of a universal kit

Re: tci trans controller

I figured out what the drac is lol. seems like the tci needs the out signal as it comes out of the vss on the transfer case before it goes threw the drac and gets converted into something else for the speedo gauge? but if I splice into the factory green/blk as it comes out of vss it cancels both mph readings(the tci,and factory speedo) . if I unplug vss from transfer case and run tci directly to sensor the tci unit works but then what do I do about the factory speedo? catch 22. I'am sure its simple but its stumped me so far. two computers needing to share the same sensor but will not work #$@%

Re: tci trans controller

I think you can tap into C11 of the DRAC and it should work...

Re: tci trans controller

found this in the search forum but its for diff trans controller instead of tci. looks similar but some of the setups and wire colors are slightly diff, anyone know if and how this would work for the tci unit. by the way this is for the older tci/fast model #301002 unit.
The orange white wire goes to the speedo - check it with the wheels turning like you did before.

Then you can configure one of the Digital Outputs (in the PCS calibration go to Transmission setup -> PWM/Digital Outputs -> Digital 4,5 or 6) to a speedometer output. Set it to ground).

Looks like you can use the digital output to drive the ECM - splice digital 4 into the BC6 brown wire to the ECM.

This bypasses the DRAC entirely so:

grn/blk (VSS) -> PCS

orn/wht = speedo,
pink/lt blue (Digital 4) = Brown/BC6(ECM)

You can setup the signal on the speedo output using the internal calibration. It's set to 2000 per mile and can be changed in the calibration wizard.

According to the diagram above, Code 24 says that cct 437 (the brown wire to the ECM) pulses at 2000 per mile. The PCS will ground it in the same way the DRAC would.

I have to say, I'm surprised that the GRN/BLK splice from the VSS can't drive both. Annoying, but now you can delete the DRAC entirely.

so tap the tci signal wire off of c11. then run the blk/wht tci sensor ground to c8?
man I looked for a dia telling me what wires did what on that drac for a hour lol

Re: tci trans controller

All righty then figured it out so thought I share in case someone else ran into same problem. Tagged off the purple and white wire at the drac and both dash speedo and tci are friends now.
For the pain in the ass part now. I came out to shop and big puddle of Trans fluid coming from the big plug on pass side of trans(4l60e) so what ever kind of o- ring has dried up or cracked. Does anyone know how hard this is to change?, do I just have to pull pan or pan and valve body to get to it?

Re: tci trans controller

Just the pan. Beware you may break the plastic retainer clips because they get very brittle with age from the heat. Squeeze very gently. If the retainer clips are broken, you may not get it to stay up and sealed; you will have to replace the harness. About $100. The connector pushes down into the pan. I believe the o-ring you want is blue or green in the seal kits. I don't remember. But it is not black.

The fluid level shouldn't be high enough to leak from the connector. If it isn't leaking when you park it, but has overnight, the converter is draining back in to the pan. Some do, some don't. I'm not sure it hurts or means anything if it does. But that's what will cause it to have leaked overnight, but stay dry while driving.

seems about right as I cranked it up tonight I did not leak but over night it made a good sizes puddle.
ya the connector is kinda loose in the case like seal or clips like you say are broken. thanks.

Re: tci trans controller

pulled trans pan last night and thank god the wiring harness plug was just pushed down past its clips cause there was a solenoid off of the valve body preventing it from coming out. I was able to pull it down enough to make sure the clips were good and snapped it back up in there.
