TD06H 20G rebuild

Awhile back I bought a used TD06H 20G 14cm2 mainly for the turbine housing..

The turbo was toast... The thrust collar had eaten itself into the back of the thrust bearing, equaling a good ammount of front to back play.. This front to back play caused the turbine wheel to rub into the heat shield and compressor wheel to rub on the back of the compressor cover.. It also appeared to have a oil leak on the turbine oil seal and the turbine shaft had some wear grooves in it from oil contamination/starvation..

I wasn't planning on rebuilding it but I said f it!! I like learning new stuff..

I sourced a good quality upgraded (dual oil feed thrust bearing and larger shouldered thrust collars) rebuild kit, billet 11 bladed GTX style 20G compressor wheel (pimp gold colored), and 11 bladed H turbine wheel.

I cleaned the crap out of the bearing housing and knocked it out..

It was extremely easy to rebuild and here is the final product... Might throw it on the Ty to see how it does or it may just sit on the shelf...

Re: TD06H 20G rebuild

Hope yours works out better than mine did. I trashed mine back in the day.

Did you get it balanced?

Cool looking wheels:tup:..especially that compressor wheel. It's to bad the compressor housing isn't see through:lol:. Would let that thing bling even more.
