Texas member....among others

Hey gang, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Esh. I'm new to the community. I just sold my '04 Dodge Ram SRT-10 RC/six-speed and my '93 Ford Probe GT and purchased a '91 Syclone with 44k on the clock. The only mods are BAER cross-drilled/slotted big-brake kit up front and a Borla exhaust. I have been reading the forums for a few days now and see that there is a wealth of knowledge here. I have a '91 Nissan TT300ZX that is in the final stages of a complete motor build. :woot:

I'm no stranger to the turbo scene...it's just that I have limited experience with AWD and to make it a little more interesting...and automatic tranny!

Let me apologize in advance for any posts/threads that seem trivial....I'm just trying to become an informed owner.

Thanks and I hope to exchange some good information with many of you.

Goals......

1) A reliable low 11-sec DD without having to go into the motor
2) A good wheel/tire combo with a 315 tire in the rear without "major" mods
3) A rear brake conversion to rotors in the rear
4) A good sound system (I own a car stereo shop...I should have this one covered  )

.....btw, any help or input in accomplishing these goals would be greatly appreciated..

Welcome and Congrats. You came to right place for questions on Sy/Ty's. Where in Texas are you located?

There are a few of us in your area. What part of Baytown do you live in? I live just a few miles down the road in Dayton.

Which shop do you own?

Welcome aboard. If you want to tune it silly you can run 11's on whats in the truck now. Otherwise, think about a mild turbo upgrade and some bigger injectors. And personally, I'd go for a2a in a daily, but there's always debate about that. Also, for the rear end you need brakes from a 98 - 04 camaro / firebird. Cheap and relatively easy to find. Converts to 12" discs with integral drum parking brake. The parking brake hookup kit is currently not available but ought to be around again a few weeks after Christmas

I lived on Rollingbrook @ Main for a while. Is your shop the one that used to be resto/customs?

A 17X11 ZR-1 rim will bolt right up with no mods at all.

Thanks for the welcome. My TT300ZX is currently ungoing a heart transplant, so I haven't been to the track in a while. Now that I have the Syclone though, I will be looking to go real soon top get a baseline run. I am a little hesitant right now because the truck doesn't pull consistently under WOT....I think it's due to some TLC needed. It hesitates and sometimes bogs a little...kinda like it's getting too much fuel???? I think I'll start reading a little more about the tune-up recommendations for a 44K mile Sycone.

Any help/input from anyone this board will be appreciated.....thanks again.

Welcome to the club, Im in Humble, just north of you and you can see what i have by my Sig, but im currently in the broke truck club, anyways, did you buy your truck from a guy in pasadena? If so thats a real nice truck you got there, and id suggest starting with a full tune up, and giving all the rubber vac lines under the hood a good once over and maybe even replace them, vac leaks can cause all sorts of weird problems. If you ever ned anything or help on the truck dont hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the welcome. The truck was purchased from Pasadena. I will be taking your advice on asking for help in the near future.

Thanks

Btw, I saw some sort of hose dragging under the truck yesterday and just tie-wrapped it up until I can figure what it is.......it is near the front drive shaft on the drivers side. It's a 1/2 black hose with some sort of plug/fitting on the end....any ideas???

Also the brake light goes on and off intermittently while driving.

....and the brake lights stay on sometimes when I've already parked the truck.

TIA.

The hose is a vent hose for the transfer case, it is supposed to be tie wrapped to the harness above the front propshaft, i kow the one on my Ty has a big rub spot in the center where it fell down and rubbed on the propshaft for quit awhile.

As for the brake light, could be something with the ABS system, and the brake lights staying on i woudl replace the switch on the brake pedal first, if that doesnt do it the harness for the rear lights may be rubbing and shorted somewhere and causing the lights to stay on, i had this problem on my first car, a 1968 Olds Delta Custom, ended up having to hand build a new electrical harness for the back half of the car, got all burned up under the carpet.

Good luck with everything.
