Tire size with coil over mod?

Its time for rubber. I want to do the coil over mod in the near future but not have to worry about tire clearance issues once I do that mod. I will be using my stock wheels.

Ive been running 255/60/16 's can I continue to use that size with the coil overs?or does anyone have a better suggestion. Thanks

If I remember correctly when you put the spacer in the coilover it will return you to stock height. So if that size fits now, it should fit then.

Curious as to why your running such a tall tire? Is it incorpurated into your build somehow?

Do you have a picture of the setup, I can't even picture running that size because of it being 2.5" taller then stock?

the 255's were on there when I got it didnt think they looked too bad.

isnt the oem size 245/50/16? thats like 1.35"shorter and 10mm narrower.

I will be leaving the spacers out so maybe 245's would be best?

The 255 isn't the part I'm concerned with. Your correct on the 255 being 10mm wider, but it's the 60 series that concerns me ( is that just a misprint and it should be 255/50R-16? ), that's the part that makes it 2.5" taller.

If you running 255/50R-16, then don't even give it a second thought. Since that's the stock Marlboro size and its not even 1.35" taller, its closer to .4" taller.

You'll still have to run the coilover spacer. Like in this picture. Is that what your refering to?

Re: Tire size with coil over mod?

nice pics, drool! what tire size do you recomend? would like the truck to sit 2"lower with the coil overs without any tire rub concerns.

You should be fine with the tires your running now. When I still had the stock torsion bar setup my truck was lowered about 3" in the front and rubbed ever so slightly on big bumps with the 245's. So a 2" drop with 255's you should be good to go, but I would definitely do some trial and error runs.

The nice part about having these adjustable shocks though is that if you want the truck low and not have it rub, just adjust the resistance up. It will ride rougher, but it wont rub.
