I think you did good, you got "basicly" a stock truck right? I ran nearly identicle times in my Ty last year with almost zero mods.

RPM coi, 3" exhaust, walbro fp, Velosyty chip, 3 bar.
So I think it qualifies "basically" to be called stock, my best time is 8.59 at 78mph.

Any tips as far as launch or OD vs D down the 1/8 mile?
thinking on getting a blow off valve next.

A blow off valve will not add any hp, just my 2cents i would invest elsewhere on the engine! As far as better 1/8 mile times.... Ive had good luck lowering the rear tire pressures to about 26psi an the fronts at 35-36ish, also a 2 step does wonders. Also are you scuffing your tires before you launch?? This is not hitting the wet box but more so right before the start line. You will do a "baby" boost launch, just to scuff the tires up a tad

no "baby boost launch"- I'll give that a try and also lowering the tire pressure.
I want to get the blow off because I drive the Ty a lot and I go under boost a lot, just a safety thing I guess.

Have you raced much? Don't take that wrong. If you haven't I wouldn't do much except practice some more. Find a combo that works. Tire pressure, launch RPM, locking the converter, whatever. Once you have some runs and you're accustomed to the truck you can work on additional mods.

Can you post a time slip? Or just give us the numbers. I'd guess there's more there just as it is with a good launch. What are you 60' times? That will be the key. Lastly use D not OD. Supposedly more line pressure so quicker/harder shifts.

60'-1.81
330-5.512
mph-77.48
1/8-8.681

I only have about 10 passes total, always with the same result

Re: took the Ty to the track last night

looks good. basically same here with methanol and a 14cm/20G.

12.5psi run, 4psi launch:
1.91
5.61
8.82 @75.06

next time i'm going with 15psi and gonna keep adding more timing.

Do you have a higher than stock stall converter?
I need tires badly as well, Im gonna go with Toyo TQs but I wont be able to get them until next month.
Next week Im going to manualy lock the diff, lower my tire psi and try a baby boost lauch, maybe add a bottle of Lucas Octane booster.

stock converter. feels more like a true turbo car now. lazy on the bottom but when boost comes, she goes hard... good luck next week. just remember, one change at a time.

If you want your to Ty to be faster, record your runs on a scan tool and analyze the data. You probably have some knock retard, work getting rid I that. A wb02 is also helpful.

Re: took the Ty to the track last night

In the last two weeks I've been pretty happy with my truck. Best times:

60' 1.731
1/8 7.923
@ 84..59

Top end:
12.578 @ 105.8

Please note, these are best times. A more usual time in the 1/4 is in the low 12.6 range.

IOW you can probably improve some. BUT if you are as consistent as you say you are and you can get good at your reaction times then you've got one heck of a bracket racer.

Re: took the Ty to the track last night

Well Im moving to a house right...so I had all my money in an envelope and my mom had it in her house, so I went to pick it on Monday since that's my only day off work, after getting my money I went to get my prego girlfriend breakfast and my final stop was at a liquor store to get some chips she wanted.
I was in a rush to take her food and I had my head spinning the whole morning that I didnt even noticed that I had dropped the envelope when I pulled my wallet out....I drove off, went back to the store, reviewed the security tapes and now this low life wanna be gangster guy is 5K richer and cops cant help so yeah.......I cant even sleep and I don't know what to do anymore.
