Looking for one with photos.

Re: Torque test

The test checked out. Everything seems ok for the specs.

One thing I noticed was the output shaft seems to have some play. This is where the drive shaft end yoke would plug into. I am able to wiggle the shaft up/down. Is this common or has a bearing failed?

Re: Torque test

I read the post/link provided. thanks for that.

Was able to just break down the case and start looking things over and find out where this slop is in transfer case.

Read that it could be a bearing front/rear that could have went. I started to take things apart and inspect. I found that most of the wiggle and slop is coming from the actual viscous coupler/snap ring area. It actually wiggles.

Is the coupler worn? Mechanism that takes the load a large black bowl inside case. After getting it all broke down and looking at it all layed out that makes some noise and wobbles. The bearings seem ok. Does that part normally chatter or have play on it.. I don't have any specs right now on it off hand

Re: Torque test

This is the part that has wobble/play.

Around the outer ring gear where it meets the snap ring. Do these normally wear at that spot ?

The torque test passed, but why so much slop? The few I showed it to said " its normal ". for some reason I find it hard to believe .

Re: Torque test

Here is the actual part.

The outer wobbles inside the inner. Probably very worn?

Re: Torque test

Just an FYI.. I called Cobra Transmission this week to order a VC and they told me they have been discontinued... Same goes for the chain.

Ended up going through Makco and they had to do some searching to find it... VC from them cost quite abit more then what Cobra was selling them for.
