Trailer hitch on a Ty.

what's the best looking bolt on trailer hitch out there for a Typhoon. I'm thinking about getting a jetski and i'll be using the Ty to tow it.

I know I know. The towing capacity of a Typhoon is Zero.. but i don't think pulling a ski will hurt it.. that much.

I guess what I would want to do would be a hidden hitch - something that comes from where the license plate is. I don't know if it is possible or one would want to cut a 3 inch hole in their rear bumper - but you aren't going to see it when not trailering. I know the name I always heard when boating was Reese - they are a receiver style where the hitch disconnects from the "mount". There has to be some good options because there are lowered trucks with hitches mounted. Good Luck.

I saw a ty once, owned by Jeff Shuffleton now...

Had a clever custom hitch.

They took a class 3 reciever (just the socket) and mounted it facing down, behind the cover...

Then they took 1" or so square tube, welded to that extending to each frame rail. Couple tabs and it bolted to frame...

Very simple, and TOTALLY hidden. My buddy owned truck for few months before we found it.

It would require custom hitch, but that would be easy also.

I wont hurt your truck to pull a waverunner, no matter what they say. Most of you guys act like the sys and tys cant do anything but race.

Jack,
Are you going to be at the FAST wrench session? I'll check it out then and maybe buy it. Thanks

See webpage "tyclone.com" for good ideas. Tuff to hide one behind the license plate, tho. Happness and success to all in 2002.

godfathercustoms.com sells a bolt on hidden hitch for Blazers and Jimmys with a roll pan that sticks out less than the rear bumper of a Ty so I know it will work. As for the reciever, get a step down for lifted trucks and flip the ball on it so it sticks up and use it up-side-down since Ty's sit so low. I't cool to be able to take your mountain bikes or what ever else with you and still have a sweet ride!

I have a custom hitch that is behind my plate. Totally invisable when plate is up. Unfortanely no one makes a behind the plate hitch for Blazer/Jimmy/Typhoons. Those have frames that are a little bit longer at the back then the pick ups. You will have to go custom to do it. I will try to take some pics of mine and post them.
