LAST WEEKEND I WAS RUNNING MY TYPHOON IN A INDUSTRIAL PARK BY MY HOUSE. I WANTED TO SEE HOW FAST IT WOULD GO, RIGHT AT ABOUT 100MPH THE ENGINE CUT OUT,ONCE IT DROPED BELOW 100MPH THE ENGINE CAME BACK. I TRIED TO RUN TOP SPEED 2 MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. ANY INFO WOULD HELP.
THANKS, MIKE

Was it in OD? Right about 100 is when you start bouncing off the rev limiter in 3rd.

Also, even if it is in OD, it may not want to shift to 4th, and thus bounce off the rev limiter. I remember seeing a video where they were telling the techs, that customers may complain that the transmission is not shifting into 4th at WOT. They didn't recommend that the tech go out and test drive it to 100mph to verify it.(I thought that part was funny)

I think their solution was to replace the transmission. Sounds like you need to keep it under 100, or have the tranny looked at.

Not shifting from 3-4 @ WOT is a common prob.Maybe Hartman will jump in and let us mere mortals know what causes this prob.
The service vid does say to R&R the trans if this happens...Time for a rebuild.

I am in the middle of a tranny rebuild and this is a common thing with 700r4's. They don't want to shift into 4th. Because of the way they are designed there is nothing you can do but let off the gas a little bit so it's not at 100% TPS and you will climb past 100mph. That is unless you want to change a valve on the inside that allows a 3-4 shift at WOT. I'm not sure if you can do this without rebuilding the whole tranny or not. Like I said im in the process of doing this now. There is a web site but it's currently down. The piece isn't that expensive on the site the hard part is getting it in, depending if you have to remove the transmission or not. You might want to ask Mr. Hartman if he has this piece and can instruct you on how to do it. But like I said before, this is somewhat normal for our trucks. Personally, I don't like going over 100 because it's AWD and I can only imagine the propshaft breaking and coming through the floor board. My suggestion, get a propshaft loop if you like your legs. When the site comes back up I'll post it here.
