What is the difference between are trans and a regular trans. I own a 92 Typhoon. I just got my truck back after a tranny rebuild,. It acts like a tranny that should go in a caprice. If I floor it , it feels like its never going into 2nd from first. And it doesnt have that 1st to 2nd kick anymore.

Help???

Did the rebuild it or replace it? If they sent yours out as a core, chances are they replaced it with a reg 700R.

I'd go back there and tell them your idea of rebuilding is not having the original parts replaced with lesser ones.

Sounds like they put in a wimpy servo and valve body. The servo is a Corvette servo and I'm not sure but I think the valve body is SyTy specific. It may also have a smaller TV valve. And who knows what governer you have in there, under full throttle does it shift at the same RPM? (If you can tell when it's shifting  )

91 Corvette Servo, Sy/Ty specific Valve body. The valve body is extremelly similur to the Camaro/Firebird. I'll check on the TV valve. I work at the Transmission Clinic of Colorado. Ill look up stats, & tell you guys

tv valve is .480 stock and should be replaced with at least a .500 from sonnax if not larger from brian hartman. valve body, seperator plate, governor, output shaft, are syty specific. servo is corvette.

Is there any place I can get the exact info on are trannys.

Is there any place I can get the exact info on are trannys.???

The guy is trying to tell me. " I have driven many of these and it shifts fine". I dont think so. You guys know that annoying 1st to 2nd shift. IT SLAMS INTO SECOND. THATS WHAT I WANT TO FEEL.

I think I am fooked. I payed a lot of money for a 82 dodge minivan with 190000 miles on it tranny. THATS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO ME. NOT A TYPHOON!!! This tranny is going to melt.

you should look on your case first of all. that will tell you if they swaped cases first off and may be a big clue as to whats inside. look on the RR corner of the pan rail just above the pan. being a 92 phoon you want to have 2LMH or 2LHM cant remember the order. but thats what it needs to have stamped on the side. if it's there then thats at least a plus maybe they didnt just give you a core from the shop.
