open tp rt . hit f4 and then the the "select log file for rec/play" tab

type in whatever you want the file to be named . its going to say file not found , create file ? you hit yes.

hit the "connect to ecm" tab and then the red circle (record button)

drive around until you have satisfied you desires , then hit the black square (stop button)

important you type something in the comments box that pops up when you hit stop ..very important ( it will not save all the data otherwise if you just hit ok )

it has been beat to death in the forums but figured id save you the couple minutes looking . enjoy

Which cable do you have? I had a cable that worked on my old P233mhz laptop. Laptop dies and my new cable will not connect. I purchased a usb to serial adapter and I could never connect to the new laptop. I sent my cable to andrew matte who said the usb to serial adapters are really picky. Ever since I got my new cable, it works every time!

Did the cable work prior to this incident, or is it new?

Any changes to your tuning setup? New laptop? New cable? New program?

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

....I have a new gm aldl1 to usb cable. I actually spent the day trying to log and this was after about two weeks of hitting the search button trying to educate myself on tuning (I do like my gn; it is less problems to maintain). I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. Here is what has transpired so far. I believe tunerpro recognizes the cable because it tells me so. I also loaded the what I believe is the proper .xds file for the vehicle. I also did everything Mr. King mentioned above and got the proper colored responses from tunerpro.... I just didn't see any raw data coming through while recording or monitoring.

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

there is an .xdf file to load and an .ads file to load before tunerpro can uncode what your aldl stream is saying . when opening tp , "control" + "e" will bring up the xdf file select , then on the f4 page you should see at the top "definition file" "browse"

that is where you load the ads file . that should get you squared away after that .

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

when you record a data session, you must export the file and it is saved in an accell format.

Can you see any data on the dash such as rpm's or anything else?

...okay; back at it again today! Mr. King; or anyone for that matter, what should I select as my .xdf. As I understand it, this is the file which enables tunerpro to read the data from the ecm. The file that shows up in my file is 6e.xdf

....no I cannot see any data on the dash, flag, monitor or value windows. However; tunerpro is telling that I am indeed connect (blue) and it is also telling it recognizes the aldl cable (connected v.206.119V).

.....FINALLY!!!!! Not sure why it's working but I did change the com ports from (10) to (2) and loaded the 6E.xdf file. Again I'm not sure why it's working with this xdf file. Nonetheless "thanks" to all that helped. Now on to emulation (dreading it).............

6E XDF, you sure that is for a syty or are you working with something else?

some computers don't like com ports in double digits.

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

....okay it been pretty much an all day affair and I still have some MORE questions. I thought by obtaining Tunerpro RT I would be able to emulate and log at the same time.

1. What more do I need to do..........or buy to be able to do this with Tunerpro RT. Be mindful of the fact that I already have a gm aldl usb cable and can now log in tunerpro but not emulate at the same time; especially when I'm hooked up to the Ostrich.

2. I have downloaded some bins (both 2bar & 3bar) for my setup. I also have the Ostrich 2.0. with a G3 adapter. When I upload a bin for my setup nothing happens. It still runs in what I believe is limp mode. Again I must be doing something wrong.

3. If and when I get an opportunity to upload a bin that the Ostrich recognizes; I'm assuming Ostrich gives me the ability to go and change certain tables, fields, etc........I have read all day any further help would be appreciated..

...at this point I'm not sure of anything. I don't believe that .xdf file is for a syty but it is working.....and I am working on trying to tune a ty. As far as the com ports go; you are right. It took me at least three long hours to figure that one out.

Changing bin parameters with a $6e file could do fairly damaging things, if you happened to edit in the wrong place.

XDE has nothing to do with data collection- All the XDE does is define where things are in the bin file.
The ADS file defines the connectivity.

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

I found an old ads xdf .zip file from 06 , you got an email ?

Re: Tuner Pro Rt.........no data

Ellis...
If I remember correctly... that 6E xdf is part of TP when you install it. It is not for SY/TY

Are you trying to run Code 59? or still Code 58? I have most of what you need for Code59 and probably a Code58 xdf and ads that you need, but let me check before you hold me to it. You might as well just go Code59 anyway since your truck is similar to mine.

After reading through the thread it appears that you have the wrong xdf/ads combo loaded into TP. Since you are seeing numbers, having the correct files should solve all your issues.
