Ty not starting.......HELP!

Yesterday it was driving fine all day until late afternoon when I tuened it off it just wouldn't start.
The voltmeter read 12.7 volts, fuses alll good. When I tried to start it I didn't hear any clicking but with the hood open I can see the alternator turning really really slow...... maybe 2 inches a second.
Today I tried changing the starter .....same problem....what else can it be or where else can I look?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

do your lights dim when you crank it over at all (have your dome lights on to check this) If they dim you've probably got a bad connection on the battery or ground(s) somewhere.

iIf engine is turning over (slowly), purple wire is not the cause. Purple wire problem results in failure of solenoid/bendix to engage.

I agree with DracOnic. Check battery, connections, cables and ground.

yea, if its slightly turning over, and youve ruled out the starter, its not getting enough juice to spin the motor around.

surface voltage on battery can be high, but when its put under load there might be little to no cranking power. I have seen back in my Western Auto days a batter that ready 12+ but when load tested it dropped to 0.

Get some baking soda, and put it on your battery connections and scrub it with a wire brush. Make sure you use a tiny bit of water when scrubbing and make sure you wash the baking soda off good. Had the exact same problem and didn't know until I had already bought a new battery. Might not be the case, if not good luck and I hope you get it fixed soon.

I agree w/ Boosted that the battery cannot be ruled out. You might also consider examining the alternator for any sign of bearing seizure.

Thanks guys for giving me some direction to look. Turns out the starter was shot and my Optima battery had a low charge due to having to have the lights on at night when I had my wife pull the Ty at 20 mph a couple miles.
Once I changed the starter and battery everythings good now.
