Typhoon #2008

hey guys, i'm new to the syty scene, i hope i can learn alot from reading just about everything on here. This is my 92' ty #2008, yes this is morgan ugly ducklin project, yes i bought it, yes i intend to finish it. Here is a couple shots since the last you've probably all seen it were from te pictures he was using to sell it. Here is where it stands now with the incredible help of morgan and a couple weekends of fiddling with everything. It is my daily driver now and i hope to keep adding to it for a while.

Future Plans
Install all cladding
install intercooler
upgrade front brakes to C5's
organize wiring under the hood
perhaps a small drop to give even gap in the wheel well
eventually repaint the whole truck stock colors and repaint cladding as well
clear rear window w/ defroster (i kinda like the defroster but the wiper has got to go)
install my weak sound system...

Re: Typhoon #2008

A ty is a ty. does not look that bad IMO. Are those wheels 17's. you need at least 17's for the c5 kit. The cbr kit is a good kit for that. cladding is going to cost though. Good luck and enjoy working on it.

i have all the cladding for it, i just need toorder the rivets... the wheels are 16s so i guess they won't clear, i'll have to find another option then, i was looking at the cbr kit once i get more together i'll post another pic

Re: Typhoon #2008

They make the 16" kit that will work fine.

Glad to see you bringing one back, it doesn't look that bad, atleast it doesn't look like you have to do any body work, just paint the tailgate and throw the cladding on!

i'll definately look into that, the motor is good, i'm having an overboost problem now, i just need to adjust the wire on the wastegate, but i dont know how. the new motor and tranny have 192 miles on it so i need to take it easy for a little bit longer. The motor feels very strong, it had a rough idle early on but new gas definatey helped that. Once I fix the overboost problem then i'll really get to play with it.

Re: Typhoon #2008

Show off, man atleast mine will be clean under there :D
You know because all the people like to climb under and look at stuff :rotf:

You know you have the wrong rotor on that side of the truck, they're directional and that one should be on the drivers side

Re: Typhoon #2008

yea i heard about adjusting the wastegate, i just don't know how, maybe when i get time i'll stick my head in there and see what i find, remember i'm still new to sytys,

ps them cbr brakes look great i'm definately jealous

Re: Typhoon #2008

You need to either screw in or loosen the W/G rod depending on what you want, are you sure that all you need to do is adjust it? See the rod in the center, the left side is threaded and screws in and out, the nut just locks it in place. You have to pull the keeper pin out and slide it off the flapper arm to adjust it.

Did you get that info from Morgan or did you come up with that? Does it still have a cat on it?

Re: Typhoon #2008

yea i think i want to lower it, it is overboosting and shutting down the motor before i can shift at 75% throttle, if my understanding is correct if i lower the boost then it'll shift before it maxes out... am i think correct?

Re: Typhoon #2008

yea i still have my cat on but no muffler, i think i'm going to wait til i get my intercooler on, turn it a couple rotations and see what happens. Thanks for your help, I'm familiar with s10s/blazers but this motor has got me scratching my head already. heh
