Typhoon VS Porsche Cayenne

A co-worker keeps bugging me that the Porsche Cayenne will out run the Typhoon in every category. 1/4 mile, 0-100, 100-0, slalom, etc.

Has anybody encountered a Cayenne on the street or at the track yet?

I don't really trust the magazine write up's as most car makers give the testers a "ringer" car for their write up.

I'm talking stock vehicles for both parties. Any experiences to share?

i think a good running stock typhoon would be able to handle a cayenne at least up to 80 or so. only problem is that none of them run good! as far as 100-0 goes i will always bet on porshe.

From an earlier run in with a stock AMG ML55 at the track

All day I was consistent.....1.9 60's, and 13.5-13.4 on all 4 runs.....I left with 1 lb of boost, 5 lbs, and 10 lbs, all with 1.9 60' times.

Things I ran against...
70ish mustang, 15.0 to 13.5
late 60 SuperSport 13.9 to 13.5
Mustang GT 4.6 stick 15.9 to 13.4
Syclone (sick) 14.2 to 13.5

Looks like that's all my stock truck has in it with the current mods.

It was fun watching a brand new ML55 AMG snap off mid and low 15 second passes though....

So, will the upgrade to the ML55 produce Typhoon beating times? Maybe, maybe not. I'd run 'em.!

Guess search owned me, but yeah that guy said he beat him from a stop, and I think I know who the owner of the truck is he allegedly "beat" but now hes rebuilding his motor so things should get interesting, ok now back on tropic I've seen several Cayenne on the streets, but the bastards are always going the oppisite way, wait till i catch one from a stop going my way, also most of the people I see driving the cayennes are woman.

bought the only time I'm likely to catch a cayenne will be on the autobahn. Of course my truck doesn't run...so he should be able to easily beat my Honda Accord.

I'd race one.

Remember there are 2 versions of the Cayenne - turbo and non-turbo.

I'd hope you'd smoke the NA one - I wouldn't wanna race one over 100 though. German Engineering ownz me.

You're the first I've heard of to actually drive one.

The Turbo Cayenne weighs a lot more then a Ty so I figure we would take it off the line but I don't know about keeping the gap.

Probably has higher top speed then us.

I've driven a few ML55s, and yes, a Ty should be able to take one of those without much trouble. I have no idea about the RennTech though. As for the Cayenne, the Cayenne S shouldn't be much trouble either, but the Cayenne Turbo will be much closer to Ty territory. I went to the local Porsche dealer a while back while they still had their Cayenne Turbo in the showroom and asked them about it. The dealer actually seemed to know what SyTys were. Typhoon is quicker 0-60, and possibly even ¼ mile, but when the Ty stops accelerating, the Cayenne still has a lot left to go. You can't do a boosted launch on a Cayenne (well, you can, but in order to do that you have to void your warranty), so the Ty definitely has the advantage there. Someone should race one and see what the real results are.

Life is beter at 25 PSI
Off the line, and up to 60 i'd say the Ty would win... the cayenne turbo will catch up and pass a Ty.. it's just a matter of seconds. Top speed on those is 160+mph  . Plus, it can off-road pretty well.

the typhoon beats both the Cayenne and ML55. my father has both and it isn't even close. at about 100 they catch up and after about 110, they are leaving the Ty's in the dust.

i hate to be the one that bitches about price, but isn't the cayenne around 55k? if you bought a new ty for 30 k and spent 25 in mods on it, i don't think there would be any competition. i don't even think it looks any better than a ty.

The one I drove was the na and it was slow. Gross weight is 6000 lbs A ty would kill one 1/4 mile. And personly I think they are ugly, the ride is bad, and if I was going offroad I would stick with a Z71. Also the price for the n/a was 70k.
