I have an Optima in the bed w/2ga. to a Summit starter sol. under the hood on pass. side. Same 2ga. to the starter, the last 3' wrappped in Earl's fire guard. The factory neg. cable bolts to a tab welded on the frame rail at the rear of the pass. wheel well and 2ga. goes to the frame from the battery. My walbro FP has 8ga. off the battery through a relay and there's a 12" fan on the trans cooler in the bed. I run my SMC through a relay off the firewall + junction and have upgraded the ECM and fuse panel power wires so my DM shows correct voltage as detailed a while ago and replaced the purple starter wire now going to the remote sol. and went 10ga. with the headlight wires(the inner pass. front area w/conn. under batt. tray).
A recent list post mentioned not only lengthening but actually upgrading some wires when using a bed mounted batt. I figured probably doing the batt. to alt. wire and upgrading the feed to the power junction on the firewall. Some low current stuff(gauge lights off my driving light switch, 12+ to 4 relays from switches to under hood, FP and in bed) runs off my fuse panel in various key on and always on fuses. Anything else you guys have found would be appreciated. What's fast w/o reliable?
