Using aftermarket shifter

Are there any sensors in or using the stock shifter? I remember once I had idle problems and found it was a misaligned park/nuetral switch making the ECM think D was N and running low idle. Other than the shift cable anything else needs attention before the swap?

Either a B&M pro ratchet or pro stick/ quarter stick. Gotts go check out a cheetah z gate and an art carr full ratchet( i.e. smack the stick as hard as you want and it goes onr gear at a time, let it ratchet back and you're ready for another shift) cable shifter at the shop this morning. Gonna check out some measurements, maybe p/u one.

Just wait-gonna be mounted on a plate right on the top of the console with the stock shifter removed, and with 2 bars 1/2" dia. as the frame hugging the console ans bolting through the trans tunnel. Did this-though that mount was 24"high by 11" wide and mine's just 9"x7"- to mount a Zgate in a 28" travel bronco prerunner that came with a column shift. very secure, brings the shifter up or over towards the driver any amount to ease the reach and in our case no center console mods. Another 4-6 weeks until finished(with that).
