Was there a shifter cable recall?

I've noticed that my shifter doesn't seem to want to go into 1st gear anymore. I think I had read somewhere about a recall for the shifter cable. Also, if there isn't any recall does anyone know the part # for the shifter cable? Is it the same as the Corvettes that used this tranny?

i had to buy one about a half of year ago. no recall that i know of, it just worn out.
it was like 130 bux if i remenber correct, and its syty only also.

I found this #12544814 in the archives. Could this be a new part # for the cable? #12544814 shows up in the GMpartsdirect database but not #15661626.

I had the same prob. Before you get a new cable, try nudging (gently) the lower cable bracket (attached to the trans) rearward. This tends to take up any slack in the cable - BECAREFUL not to go too far, or you will not be able to engage park.
