what the hell is this?

After pulling the stock battery tray while installing mods yesterday I saw a round ball shaped deal, hard plastic w/ a vacuum(?) line going to near the egr control(?). The carbon canister is on the driver's side so what the hell is this and can I remove it? Should the line be plugged or routed to another vacuum source? What about CA smog, though it'd fail the visual, would it impact test results.

That is a vacuum reservoair, under boost you don't have any vacuum, so this "round ball" keep some vacuum for you so you can regulate heater etc. under low boost or in between vacuum and boost.

So if it's just a resevoir could I replace it w/ something airtight w/ the same volume but put it somewhere else in the engine compartment. Where's it go in the atr batt. relocate kit? Thanks.

Actually its the official syty pool play thingy... You can take it out with no problem (just cap the lines going to it).

I guess for me the last thing I am thinking about if I am in boost is heat. Is it better to cap the ends or should you connect them with T's or whatever to keep the vaccuum system "together".

fix the vacuum at its source.

I agree, dont need the ball for *hit.
instead, use that spot to hide your neighbor's dog you hate.

I deleted my vacuum reservoir after I got the ATR battery relocation put in my truck. For the longest time I had it rolling around down by the wheel well until I decided what to do with it. Right now, I just have the vacuum line that was going to it plugged. My AC/heat controls and cruise still work fine. The only thing that I have noticed is that it takes the "doors" for the HVAC a little longer to change position but, that's it.
