I was reading the motortrend websight looking for some info on the new 2003 silverado ss. They were talking about the old 454 ss and how the lighting has nothing to be worried about but the new dodge truck. but i think a good running sy would be able to take lightnings in a 1\4. I think that syclones and typhoons are way undercredited!

i gotta agree with that
I wonder how could of a driver youd have to be to hit a 12.9 in that new dodge truck since its standard transmission and most the people buying them will be richass people with no clue of what to do? who knows i hate dodge and ford is ok but i stick to gm.

That's the Syclone's favorite prank - smoking expensive new sportscars and trucks :D That's why I bought mine anyway, he he.

When the Sy's Ty's were new, there was tons of buzz around them and they were in all kinds of magazine articles. Now, the Sy is an 11 year old truck. The press wants things that are either new, or old enough to be called antique. Unfortuantely, the SyTy's don't fall in either category right now.

So, we're stuck defending ourselves at the stop light and embarrassing that F Body that pulled up next to us.

I read the article you are talking about and I must say I kept waiting for the Cyclone to pop in. Nothing - kept talking about the 454SS - which really shouldn't have worn the SS name IMO. Great idea on paper - no performance on the street. As far as the article is concerned I would say the reason they kept talking about the 454SuperSlow was because it was full-size - much like the L and the other trucks they were writing about. The SyTy did get credit back in the day. I remember riding around in my boss' Syclone when he first bought it and never had a problem getting people to want a shot at the title.

As far as the SS - it is an older truck now. Until GM does something, outside of the Corvette, we are going to have to live in the past. The L is the fastest truck being produced right now. I really like the Dodge - but as mentioned it isn't as easy as the SyTy to drive. Gonna have to be a good driver to make it work. I will still sit back and enjoy my Ty. I still get a smile on my face when I drive it - and I've been doing it for 5 years now :)

Historically Significant
I was clicking through the channels this past saturday morning before going to work, and came to "Trucks" on TNN with that homo who has the feathered back hair and wears wrangler jeans...

anyways, they mentioned something about "the truck GM never produced...but should have...the 496ss" on next week's show.

anyone else ever hear of the 496?
