I will be putting a new heater core in ty 1492 soon and have heard thats its a major pain. Just wanted to get some insight on what to expect or any helpful hints that might make it go a little easier. Thanks.

it really isnt that bad. people make it out like its a nightmare. go slow, follow the directions and you can probably get it done in 2 hours.
Get like Ian and do enough of them, and you start to get them done in 30 minutes.

Thanks Adam, I wont be in a hurry at all. I planned on it taking a while and I need to change out the radio anyways, so I can get that done at the same time. I dont drive the truck in the winter and have been told "just leave it bypassed, you dont use the heater in the summer anyways." but it bugs me when things are not right , I want everything to work as it should.

It isn't that bad. I have done 3 or 4 and now I am to the point of just going at it. No need to completely remove the dash or any of that silliness. Just get to where you can move the dash around on the passenger side and you will golden. 2 hours without beer, 4 with. Haha

Try one on a 2nd S-series truck and then complain. The dash more or less has to come completely out on those.

i found the copper ones fit way better than the aluminum also just a heads up

Agreed. I just did a swap with an all- aluminum replacement (Autozone) and the hardest part was getting the new one to fit.
