BC Syclone
Well gas prices dropped about 15 cents per litre yesterday so I figured I'd fill up on the way home. After filling up, I pull out of the station to see a Nissan Skyline go by and stop at the red light beside the gas station.
Well now, I scoot up beside him on the right, we're the first two at the light. I tell you, it sure makes it easy to talk to the driver when he's on the right-hand side of the car. I roll down my window and say 'nice skyline' ask him what year (1990) and blah blah blah, nice enough guy. He was excited to talk about his car. I proceed to educate him a little on what I'm driving as it's a similar setup. After that his eyes light up and says 'lets run em'
Now it's not too far to the next light but hell, it's the first action... uh racing-wise, that I've seen all year. I start to boost it up a bit while waiting for the light to change, but I couldnt remember if we got the green light first before the oncoming traffic, so I only built maybe 5psi. Light turns green before I realize it and the Skyline shoots outta the hole before me, I quickly launch and stick with him, my front end is right at the front of his door. We stay that way 'til we both shut down at about 80kmh, like I said the next light wasnt far.
He pulled into the turn lane at that light while I pulled into his now empty lane and we ended up beside each other again at that light. He told me he's got a HUGE single turbo along with a number of other upgrades. I complimented him on his ride and he did the same. I went away grinning that my stock Sy is pretty close to even with his fairly modified Skyline. With a better launch, I may even be able to take him.
Now I'm hoping he'll tell all his Skyline buddies about the little black truck roaming Abbotsford. I swear there's a least 10 Skylines running around here that have just shown up in the past year or two.
