Need some help with KR, DM file inside.

Im having some KR issues that I believe to be false knock. It seems to only happen on shifts and then goes away. I think it may be from the mechanical action of the transmission triggering the sensor and the resulting Knock retard. It pulls very hard with no spits or sputters. My autometer wideband indicates WOT afr's in the 11.0-12.0 range.
I am running code 59 with an ultimate v6 T1-22 programming. Thanks in advance! :tup:

as a first test, I would recommend running some 100 octane fuel to see if the "false knock" is still there. If so, then you can probably assume is really is mechanical false knock. If it is gone, then it probably was not false. The AFR seems a little lean so it could be getting some knock and may be just on the edge. If you confirm the knock is real, I would start by increasing the fuel to richen it up a bit.

I have tried xylene mixed in with no improvement. I forgot to mention that i have a snow alky kit installed and running. I have played with the fuel pressure a little bit. My base FP is at 60lbs. What is a good target WOT afr on the safe side?

then it sound like it really is false. And since it goes away, its probably not much to worry about. trying to find and eliminate it may be very difficult and not beneficial. One option might be to put a little teflon tape on the knock sensor threads and do not completely tighten it. I'm not sure what the desired AFR would be for your set up. 12.0/1 just seem unsafe to me.

I would say richen it up just a little bit from what I have seen with people running Meth is 10.5-11.5. I also noticed that your TPS is never going to full 100%.

What about relocating the sensor? I will add some fuel and see if that helps. It is hard to tell myself to stay in the gas even if i know the knock is false. Id rather be safe than sorry.

Your plugs will tell. You just gotta take baby steps and SEARCH. pretty much .

You maybe getting false knock but I would try to rule out first real knock. The best way is cut the plugs and read them.

How much Xylene did you add? How much gas was in the tank when you added Xylene? Does the knock go away if you lower your boost? What mods does your Typhoon have?

Just a couple thing that your wrote that stick out to me.

-12.0:1 AFR is on lean for alky injection. Basically you need a lower AFR when spraying methanol. AFR depends on how much alky your spraying as well. Again reading plugs is the best solution to see if your AFR is too lean.
-Is your fuel pump upgraded? 60psi base FP is pretty high. At 22psi of boost, it mean your fuel pressure is 82psi. The fuel pump capacity to supply high volume of fuel is reduced as the pressure goes higher.

For pump gas & running 22 psi you should be about 10.8 A/F ratio, that is w/no meth.

With meth (alky control) & pump 91 octane I go as rich as 9.8 - 10.5 range that is when I am running 24 psi.

Every engine is different though, but Nolan had told me when running pump gas & higher boost, you need to run 10.8 A/F ratio & it seems to work on my Sy., anything in the 11.0 & leaner starts to get knock

When I used an ultimate chip, stock injectors, I believe, I had run 60-62 base fuel pressure to try & feed my starving engine w/stock injectors. .:2cents:

I will pull the plugs and report back, I also will try to get the WOT afr in the 10's.
