Purchased Another Sy-Tune-Up Questions

Question...I will be completing a tune up on a SY I just purchased. This is a stock truck except for a few minor upgrades (HD propshaft, Larger intercooler pump, and Fuel pump). My plan is to leave the truck as stock as possible but certainly want to make modifications to areas that were lacking from the factory. I plan on purchasing these items either from Sportmachines or Michael Hood. Is Michael Hood still selling this stuff? My list is as follows:

Oil Change (previous owner used mobile 1 synthetic)
Oil Filter (Wix Filter)
Air Filter (K & N or OE-Thoughts?)
Vacuum Line Kit (Sportmachines)
GM Cap and Rotor
Taylor Wires
NGK UR6 plugs (with plug wire boot protectors)
Install Boost/Vaccum Gauge (Any suggestions-Autometer?)
Trans was serviced about 20k ago (No plans to service trans at this point)
Rear diff fluid change (Type of Fluid?)
Hood Tune (2 bar map tune)
Fuel Filter (Suggestions?)
I had thought about eliminating the EGR with a block off plate and removing the ABS unit with an ABS delete as well.

Anything I am missing in regards to the tune up portion?

Thanks,
Nate

Don't get Taylor wires....sportmachines sells a nooice wire setup...talk to Tom@sportmachines. Everything else looks like a good plan to me at least....im sure others will chime in. Your on the right path!

I have the HOOD 2 bar tune you might as well get the egr delete plate he can delete it you will notice a difference .The rear diff just 80/90 gear lube .I would get the trans serviced with regular cheapo dex 3 and add a bottle of red lubeguard I added a pan drain screw . I used ac delco fuel filter it probably doesnt matter just change it . Make sure the dist. cap has the brass contacts you cant go wrong with ac delco wires too .

I would use UR5 for what your going to do with mods (2 bar map with the stock boost levels). My stock truck idled better with ur5 vs ur6.

I would changed the transmission fluid. The factory service interval for the transmission fluid was every 15k miles. These trucks put a lot of heat in the transmission when doing boost launches.

Re: Purchased Another Sy-Tune-Up Questions

Thanks for the feedback gents. The truck is being shipped and I should have it by weeks end. I will be starting the maintenance next week as I am off work. I found out the wires, cap/rotor, plugs were all changed within the past 2000 miles. I will likely go ahead and complete the oil change. I have already purchased a trans filter kit from Sportmachines to complete the trans drain and fill. Should I complete a flush of the system or is drain and fill sufficient? Also....I did purchase some Red Lubeguard to put into the trans with the new Dex 3 fluid. Is it possible to drain the torque convertor when changing the tranny fluid?

Thanks again for the help!

If you really want to flush the entire transmission, you can pull the cooler lines off of the rad. Place the out line in a bucket, and the in line in your new fluid. Run the truck at idle until the out line fluid is clean. Depending on the mileage of the transmission, some will say that the flush is a bad idea. The friction material from the internal clutch gets suspended in the fluid and when you flush it you remove that material. I've seen a working transmission slip to the point of being useless after a flush.
