here are a few videos from today.

best time was a 1.6 60' 11.7 @ 113 i know reaction times sucked. we were not really paying any attention to the lights. just trying to launch. both launches were done at 4-6 psi of boost. there was one more run that we launched at 12 psi and it smoked all 4 tires. (wish i would have gotten that one on video) even though it was the slowest.

How much boost were you running? What tires? Race fuel?

Nice! I would love to know the Boost level and what did you do to get the truck to leave at 12lbs of boost?? If you could have hooked that up (Guessing better tires) that thing would have been on a mission!

man he just did a normal boost launch and was holding it tiiiiiiiiiiight.. it started creeping just a litttle then once it hit 11-12. the tires just went up in smoke.

i'm running 18psi, 110 octane, we are being conservative on the tune though. we don't wanna push the limits yet...!!!!.

silly... do you think a smaller tire would be better? i am running a 315 right now.. they just seem to suck pretty bad. why do you say a smaller tire? what size would you recommend? any other thoughts on this?

Its werry hard to launch these trucks beyond 8 - 10 PSI without smokin tires... and U could do som chassie magic´s and use slicks, but the results are almost instant "smokie rubber" annyhow..

Its werry hard to launch these trucks beyond 8 - 10 PSI without smokin tires... and U could do som chassie magic´s and use slicks, but the results are almost instant "smokie rubber" annyhow..

Cool are you running a drag Radial tire or just a street tire ??
Are you warming the tires up before your run?? Because I dont see you do it in any of the videos online. Heat is the key to a good hard launch with a drag radial
I also was not aware these trucks would do a 4 wheel burnout

Wish I could Get 10lbs out of my GN without a transbrake :roll:

Side wall height is the same on the 315 35 17 and the 275 40 17 :tup: In order to get a larger side wall you would need to drop the rim size to a 16 (No good drag tires in that rim size) Or a 15. I saw one Sy. on here that has 275 50 15's all the way around and went low 10's
Still have not seen a video of that run or if he warmed the tires Im guessing he did

no we didn't heat the tires on any of the runs. and yes lol the tires do burn up.

i am running on a nitto drag radial.. piece of crap in my honest opinion. i can get the truck to 9-11 psi fairly easily. (maybe cause of the 70mm turbo? headers etc...).

keep in mind guys. these runs were with stock heads cleaned up and with larger valves put in them. i'm going to push the envelope on the stock heads and see what they can do before too much boost is enough. then maybe i will swap to a set of vortec's or so.

Et Street up front and alternating with the same in rear or pure slicks..

Yes U could smoke the tires but not do a regular burnout, or werry hard to do because of all tires rotating

Besides that, this action is verrry hard on the transmission, shafts and trans cace, besides axles and joints, so its more like trashing parts before a race/good run.

Correct! I'd prefer a 15" wheel anyway but honestly i wouldnt be surprised if he has a better short time on 245 i've seen 1.5's out of them

Nittos will not work without heat there crap even with it but they do stick some when heated.
Im looking at some other very soft road race type of tires that may work well No heat really needed do to the compound of them.

Your referring to the mickey Thompson I Pattern tires there bias ply and wouldnt do well on the front :tdown:

There are lots of Drag Radials available in 16".

Contrary to popular belief, a narrow tire has the exact same contact patch as a wide tire, given the same tire height.

The 315s likely ride up on the edges of the groove on most tracks. Slicks don't have this problem as much, since they tend to conform to the shape of the groove.

Also, the 17s and 315/275 tires are horrifically heavy. You're probably losing 100 lbs of rotating by going to a set of 15" Welds with DRs.

The 17"/18" rims are generally more fashion than function.

so like a set of weld drag lites? do you know what i would need for the correct offsets?.. and what tires would you recommend that i go with.. drag radials all the way around? are they going to make that much of a difference over a street tire?

I have seen trucks with 15's and a 235 up front, anyone here run that? I was scared that might be too small up from but seems to be what it has to be to make fit. 275 out back on a 15" as well.

I have seen a couple trucks with that setup but no numbers i can think of

There is a Ty for sale with that set up Looks killer Id go with a MT Drag Radial if you want to run the set up on the street :tup:
Be lighter than a 17
Jamie are your running the E/T Street radial or the ET Street Bias ? 275/50/15 is whats on the one for sale thats a lot of tire should hook like your on Velcro id have to think :tup:
