yes, roller tip, you got a roller on the tip.
full rollers got a bearing in the middle too

Roller rocker don't knock, unless their is valvetrain clearance issue. Their is valve cover issue with the plastic vortec roller covers, but with a little tweaking (see Tooky's long Vortec post) the stamped steel valve cover fit vortec heads.

I have Crower roller rockers on mine under the vortec valve covers. I had to make some clearance under the valve covers, but they fit fine.

when you guys say clearance, what do you mean? I am hoping to use the stock valve covers that came with the original truck. Are you grinding or banging them out?

What are the part numbers for the 1.6s (nallj92) and yours undrcrvr_ty? Price?

Tooky used the stock Vortec rocker arms from a 2001 up truck - I was thinking of doing the same and trying to save some money as his combo works but I can't seem to find them anywhere.

I thought as they are stock they would be freely available!

Be sure they will fit with center bolt valve covers, & there is A board member that makes valve cover spacers so you don't have to beat the covers to death, Spacer will also allow you to run the vortec plactic valve covers. I would look into these 2 things first before doing anything..

the stock and arp's replacement rocker studs are not long enough for full body roller rockers. check this before you install the heads. you will have to get the heads machined to fit a 7/16 size arp rocker stud that is longer.

Yes those wil be fine for roller rocker arms. The stock and ARP metric don't work cleanly with roller rockers. I am not sure you can use the factory shaft mount rockers with 3/8 rockers (heads drilled for 7/16), I heard they use 8mm bolt but never really looked to see how they are mounted.

I put on Crane gold NON self aligning. I had to put on A comp cams push rod guides on. if you do this make sure you have the heads milled to fit the thickness of the push rod guides. I love them. Ya it costs A little more but with self alighning your wearing out the valve guides sooner because there is nothing holding the push rod from moving around, like the non self alighning that hold them in place. Hope this makes sence. Did you get the heads already ? If not tell Mike that you want to put the push rod guides in stalled. There only like $25.00 bux. Push rods $121.00 ( The good ones)

In terms of wearing out the valve guides, how much wear are we talking here? I have never read anyone with a problem with it before.

I already got the good push rods from Mike so maybe I can get the shop here to do the valve guides.

Why is nothing ever easy/cheap on these things?!!!

Guess I will be doing a bit more searching.

How badly will the truck perform if I use the stock rockers for now to get it running and then worry about getting proper ones later?

I have a 415 cam ready to go in - will I cause a problem with valve opening/springs etc if I stay stock for now?

DONT use stock rockers! The lift of that cam will cause stock rockers to hit the rocker studs!
You can get LONG SLOT rockers, or roler tip rockers.

You don't have to bring them with you. Just do what I told you above & everthing will be fine. You will be happier in the long run. It is not A huge job to do the machining of the heads & install the guides & the studs. All they do is take the thickness of the guide plates off the heads. can be done in A couple hours at the machine shop..

As hepful as it is, its wrong right off the bat. 91 Syclone use self aligning rockers, I am 100% sure about this.

"1988 to 1992 all used press in studs, were NON self aligning and fully adjustable"

I really don't know 4.3 inside and out but I really can't imagine GM using non self aligning rockers in regular 4.3's. One common mistake with TPI C4 Corvette's is the assumption they have non self Aligning rockers, because they come installation alignment plates. These insatlation plates which are mistake for guide plate (which non slef aligning rockers wil requires). Syclone don't have these, but I wonder if other 4.3 have them like te C4 Corvette did.

I'm still trying to find somewhere that sells the 2001+ Vortec 1.5 stamped roller rockers but may end up just buying some from Summit or Jegs.

Wish I could save some money somewhere on this truck!!!

I am not a big fan off the factory stamped steel rockers, but if your really looking to save money (and perhaps going to upgrade later) just re-use your stock stamped steel rockers (you already have english rocker threads.)

stock stamped rockers? with the 415 cam? I have been advised against that.

The plan is to save money where possible but if I have to buy the 1.6 rockers then so be it. I was hoping to not have to spend $300 when Tooky for example seems happy with his $25 purchase.

$600 for rockers and sheet metal valve covers seems extreme but I am limited in the UK. I realised that a loooooong time ago :D
