I was thinking I could get about 8-10k. Anyone think that is too much? Of course it would come with all my spare parts and future upgrades I have laying around. Also, my Madmax fender wold be replaced with a new fender, any thoughts?

Keep it, just step away from it, and take a break from trying to tune work on it. Just drive it to enjoy the syty ownership. It will get better with time.

Re: Contemplating selling the TY

I AGREE WITH UNLUCKYTY

TAKE A BREAK.

I just bought mine 3 months ago and find I spend way to much time tinkering/ on the forums/ internet research already, so I know your pain. But just take a break man.

its not my DAILY DRIVER, so when I do take it out, I really enjoy it.

Re: Contemplating selling the TY

Well, to be honest, it really isn't fixing that bothers me. Its the fact that it consumes A LOT of my time and gets me putting more important things on the side. Bills get paid, yeah, but when I have work to do for my business or whatever, I sit there and justify why I should fix my truck first  I constantly find ways to make fixing it or upgrading it a priority when the real priority should be my family and my business. I guess what I am saying is that maybe I am too immature to own this thing. Now on top of all that, it gets me tickets every time I turn around. I'm on my 4th exhaust ticket in 2 years, when I go back to court on the 29th, its going to be about a $900 fine, $400 form the last one they suspended and another $500 for the recent one when I forgot to close my dump  It gets worse, last night I got a drag racing ticket, Ive had one before YEARS ago in 2000 when I had my Vette and I hate the feeling that I will more than likely lose my license. Funny thing is, and I know no one will believe me, is that I really wasn't even racing. These guys in this town have it in for me and its all starting to catch up. I know its not really the trucks fault but if I can't drive down the street with out getting a ticket or breaking down, then after a while it just seems like my whole life is about dealing with the negative backlash this truck provides. I kind of like the idea of maybe not driving it as much. Maybe get a little 4cyl Honda Accord to slum around in for a while. Truth is, I DO NOT want to get rid of my truck but I just feel like if I don't, I could very well ruin my life since my self control is nearly non-existent the second I turn that key.

You sound like the wife just chewed your butt. The truck doesn't get you tickets, your foot does. You promised you would take it easy on it after the last tranny breakage and the very next thing you knew, you were posting kill vids. You need to keep it. You obviously love it. But to you, it's like your addicted to a drug and can't control yourself. Park it at the shop in the corner with a cover over it, give the keys to your wife and tell her to put them in a safety deposit box at the bank and walk away. Give your family the time it needs now and come back to it later. Also, if the cops told you they don't want to see you on the street again, they won't....not the Ty anyway. I really think you will regret getting rid of it. Kinda like the hot girl you broke up with in college and then 2 years later say "WTF was I thinking?"

He won't sell. Give the keys to the wife, cover it up and take some time away. He can't....it's like gearhead's crack.

Crack, there is no comparison for this one, Ild say its more like a sickness. FWIW, I never said I wouldnt race, I was only taking it easy til I found out what was wrong with my tranny. I don't drive like a mad man everywhere I go, I know a lot of people think that but its just not ture. I actually drive fairly calm the MAJORITY of hte time. Do I get crazy HELL YEAH!! But I guess its enough to get me in trouble still. As for the wife, she actually took it well. I don't fear my wife like that, I just told her and while she wasn't particularly happy about it, she didn't try to play mommy either. And surprisingly, its not her who thinks I don't prioritize right, its my own realization. My truck may or not get sold, may or may not get parked, either way, it will not be driven like usual.

mike! don't let alittle bump in your daily lifestyle change everything . i've been through it. my advice ,, buy the little shitbox to drive around town . and keep the ty for havin fun . that's what i do .hey and at least your woman dose'nt call your truck your other girlfriend or i.e. the black biatch !! like mine does !!!

phoonTy

Truckless. For now.
Re: Contemplating selling the TY

Mike, I totally feel where your at. Some days it's hard not to look at the truck and see everything it could pay for by being gone... That includes future parts/repairs/upgrades you would no longer be buying with it out of the garage. It's a tough choice to make for sure. Nadine and I decided to hang on to mine for as long as we can, knowing that if all else fails, sure, we'll sell it. But if everything works out, we'll be glad we hung on to it.

Re: Contemplating selling the TY

Yeah guys all make great points. I decided to take the truck for a ride after work today and I have to say, I couldn't watch this thing drive away from my house like I did my Vette. That was a sad night, got all teary eyed and everything :( I took the TY to the local weekly show. Basically everyone just brings their cars to a vacant parking lot and pop the hoods. There were some SWEET rides there today and every time I looked over there were at least 2 people looking at the truck and smiling, stuff like that. Made me proud I built it. Still, talked about it with the wife and she says I better not even think about it but at the same time, we can't afford another car right now, unless she sells hers. But that would be pointless because she drives her car which would just leave me to drive the TY. Or my work truck, and 7/8 mpg won't cut it for sure. Guess for now I am going to fight this ticket and hopefully win. The officer screwed up part of the paper work that should have been very obvious. I went to where he was sitting today and there are bushes obstructing the view. If they offer a plea Ill take it since my driving record is mostly clean, I only have 2 points against my license right now. One speeding ticket in the last two years. So with any luck, Ill get a plea but if not, I have nothing to lose and will fight it. Depending on what this lawyer ends up costing me, I may go down to the auction and see if I can find me a beater.

These trucks cost us Millions.... if you think about it... the money we put into the things and the depreciation... if you'd invest it for 20-30 years until retirment it's way over a million. :)
