I'm putting the shopping list together for a fuel injector upgrade. Probably going to go with something in the 75lb/hr range. I currently have a single Walbro 255 Lr/Hr pump in the the Typhoon driving Lucas 42lb/hr injectors and am concerned it isn't enough pump for larger injectors. I've had...
From what I understand the output shaft is syty specific. I'm rebuilding one out of a 92 typhoon at the moment and the rear planet has melted down due to low trans fluid. The output shaft looks like it has been hot and I think it is best to replace it. I've got an output shaft from from a...
Re: wideband choice.
I just put a PLX sm-afr in and got the code 59 bits running. It was fairly easy and I'm quite happy with the results. I didn't end up getting a display for the PLX and now wish I had. The only way to see AFR is with data logging and I'd like to have the piece of mind of the...
Re: PLX DM-5/SM-AFR interfacing with the ecm
Did you all just replace the stock O2 sensor with the wideband? All of PLX's docs say to mount it atleast 24" from the turbo. Our stock sensor is about 4" from the turbo. Thoughts? I'm planning on using the stock location but thought I would ask.
I think I've convinced myself to go witht he PLX wideband. Is the PLX sm-afr the way to go or is the M-300 a better choice? Are both supported with code 59?
I really like the idea of the DM-100 with multiple devices. I'm planning on starting with the sm-afr with no gauge and adding a DM-100...
Re: Tuning Woes
Yeah...I see the same 2.2kpa at idle using DM. I've verified this by looking at the voltage going into the ECM. I've cut the ground on the MAP side and used a jumper to rule out the connector. Same story, low voltage back to ECM when using that ground. I'll take another stab at...
Re: Tuning Woes
Talked to Jim Sloan tonight and did some more troubleshooting. What I know:
1. Map and Coolant sensor share same ground to ECM (B6 C307).
Unsure of which coolant sensor. I think we have 2. One on intake manifold and one in a head.
2. I get 5 volt reference to map from...
Re: Tuning Woes
New map...same problem. A little more troubleshooting and I've narrowed it down to a grounding problem. If Anyone know where the ground wire from the map goes? Does it tie into one of the grounds on the back of the heads? I'm digging through the service manual now and will...
Re: Tuning Woes
Did some further testing tonight and I'm 99% sure its the map sensor. I checked the voltage at the map sensor using jumpers. I've got +5 on the reference and .4 on the signal wire at idle. I picked up a 2bar at the local parts store since that is all they stock. I get +5 on the...
