1.6 Rocker arm upgrade

I searched and didn't see this anywhere so I figured I would share something I have learned. I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy at my shop that we are putting a motor in that has the 1.5 roller fulcrum rocker arms. A buddy of mine from the local chevy place came one day to eat lunch and I was showing them to him. Well come to find out he was working on I believe a 05 buick or pontiac with the 3.8 motor and it had the same rocker arms with the exception they are 1.6 ratio instead of the 1.5. So if you are doing an upgrade to vortec heads you can use 01+ heads and go directly to gm and order 1.6 rocker arms. Thought that was cool. Hope atleast one person finds it useful.

That would be cool if they would match up, it would be a cheap way of getting a 1.6 ratio.

If you have the newer heads that are pedstal mount roller fulcrum it is a direct replacement. We slipped one on the motor to just to insure everything was the same size and it worked. On the 3.8 motor they use individual stand mounts in stead of the plate like the 4.3 uses that they all sit on.

Just sorry it took so long. Kind of nice that you can buy these from GM and not have to mod your heads, same threads for studs and all. Just pull yours and bolt these in. Not sure if new push rods will be needed for correct geometry
