4L80 adapter to SyTy T-case

Thought I'd post a couple of pics up of the adapter we made for my truck this year. I didn't like the idea of the adapter plate & the old tail section, so we machined up a new tail section out of billet.;) It came out awesome. If there's any interest, post here & we'll see if we can get some more made. Disregard the "bottom of the ocean" trans housing, I'm just using that for mockup so I don't have a brand new trans sitting here until I'm ready. THX for looking.

I might be interested in this, what kind of money would we be talking about?

Impressive - and yes, how much is that going to set you back? That's got to be $400 at least after machining and materials?

How did you get your TC looking that good? Nice work!

Len,

Now that's what I call impressive and I bet the bolt holes even line up, unlike some others :) I would be interested in a price also.... BTW, what's happening with those trick billet shifter knobs?

that looks great. I see a flaw though - you didn't 100% match the tc housing at the top of the adapter. You might as well ship that one to me so that you don't have to look at it.

I assume you kept the same trans mount bolt pattern on the bottom of it?

My only real complaint of this is that it sits under the truck where you'll never get to admire it.

I bought an TC input shaft on a group buy a few months ago. Can I still use it with this adapter? If so, I'd be interested in one.

Yes the stock trans mount will fit.

I think you're asking the same thing I am... would this replace the need to change out the input shaft?

Wow, that's prety nice. I'd be thinking of upgrading to that piece, depending on price.

This is to replace the trans to transfer case mounting adapter. This adapts the syty transfer case to physically mount to the 80e case. This part actually replaces the adapter and the tailshaft cover on the 80e. The shaft is a separate entity. The adapter shaft is needed to adapt the transfer case input (most popular way) from 28 spline to 32 spline. They also make (not as popular) a adapter tail shaft to convert the 80e from 32 spline down to 28 spline. This way of doing it is harder due to having to disassemble the trans to swap out the tail shaft. This is what just the adapter looks like:

Re: 4L80 adapter to SyTy T-case

I guess what I'm wondering is, I won't have any kind of length issue between using either the spacer or the entire tail section that Len has designed above. I just want to make sure the total overall length of a 4l80 with the new tail section or the spacer is the same.

Nice piece ! That started out as a decent sized chunk of aluminum...

Very nice!! Would it take more than 6 months to make some? I know some guys that need one pretty bad that are tired of waiting for someone to actually make the darn things. And yes, how much?

The TC in the pics has a 32 spline input shaft from RPM already installed, (as well as billet internals). This is what I used as a reference to fab this adapter. As long as the input shaft is the same specs as the RPM one, you'll be fine.

No, this new piece replaces the old tail shaft & the need for the .5" steel adapter/spacer. You'll still need to replace the input shaft on the TC.
