-6 AN fuel line fitting question...

I am trying to figure out how to go from the pump hangar assembly saginaw (male) fitting to 6 AN braided line on the feed side. I know of the Earl's adapter to go from 6 AN into the (female) fuel filter, but have not been able to find anything on going from the hanger assembly to 6 AN (I've done several searches). Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

TIA, -6AN line is a notch on the small side for the pressure side fuel. You want -8AN feed, and -6AN return line, unless your truck is modded well and you want larger; I'll be going -10 and -8 just to be safe.

The fittings to and from the fuel fiter used to be sold at NAPA. They were a "Balkamp" part, and were normally packaged individually, and hung on one of the display trees you'd see out front. It was the fitting itself with a 4" or so length of pipe that you would either have to run rubber to and from, or use a compression fitting to connect the pieces to your existing fuel line. You would have to use it with the stock 3481 (Wix 33481) filter. As for what the fittings on the pump are, I don't know. They might be the same?

I got all the "metric - an" for the AFPR and filter fittins from Earls (Summit)
Its just how I connect the pump to the braided 8an lines thats left.

I want to do this over the day, drop the tank and just plug the new lines in and put the tank back on and drive away Thats why I'm such an PITA about asking about the fittns by tha pump.

Are you changing from stock to a Walbro? If so, as shown below, it comes with the rubber line and hose clamp. To attach that to braided, you could use this in the rubber line (-8AN hose to -8AN female adapter), this on the end of your hose running to the filter (-8AN female hose end), and connect the two with this (-8AN male coupler). Kind of a frankenstein setup, but unless the pump has its own threaded fitting, which I'd guess not for a stock or equivalent, you'll still have some rubber and hose clamping. If you were running sumped tank and Aeromotive, Paxton, etc. that has NPT fittings, you could avoid it. Guess it depends on what pump you're running.

I'm replacing the Walbro thats in the tank. It makes alot off noise, I mean ALOT off noise.
I dont trust it.

All of the parts I pulled from summits website, but from what I've found, Jegs seems to be a bit cheaper, especially on the braided hose. I'd toss a couple clamps on that rubber line while you're at it. The fitting with the barb that I linked to was to fit -8AN hose. I seriously doubt that the hose that comes with the walbro is anymore than 3/8" ID. In that case, I think a -6AN barb to -6AN female fitting would be used, then use a -6AN to -8AN male coupler to join the walbro and your line going to the filter.

Gone clamp that rubber hose with 2 clamps as you said just to be sure.

I'm gone pick up all the parts at Mopac in Vancouver on my vacation and get some couplers "that can come in handy too"
Planing on get a Russel filter so I dont need the 16mm - 8an adapters

I wonder what size particles the OEM filter removes? I'm looking at an Aeromotive system, and they have 2 filters; one is a 100 micron screen, then there is a 10 micron paper element. I wonder if the smaller micron size (than 40) is because they assume that if you're going to put a big fuel pump on, you've probably got a high dollar engine that you don't want crap going through? Either way, that Russel filter looks a good piece for a nice smooth installation.

I must be missing something still... The feed line between the tank and the fuel filter has a metric "saginaw" fitting on each end. The tank end has a female saginaw fitting, and the fuel filter end has a male saginaw end (the one RPM sells). Basically, the tank end of the feed line is exactly the same as the female fittings on the fuel filter. Is there a female saginaw to AN fitting out there or do we have to slide the saginaw male fitting on the hangar assembly down the line away from the flare and attach a rubber line with a hose clamp?
