6 Liter Blazer project

I finally got off my tail and tore into the Blazer and took out the original motor and tranny. Today I set the new motor in for a trial fit.

For those of you that don't know what I am attempting, I am putting a turbo 6 liter/4L80e into a S10 Blazer and using an AWD t-case. I already lowered it, rebuilt the front suspension completely, etc. I installed a factory digital instrument cluster (always thought those were cool) I fixed a couple electrical probs etc etc. It should be a nice cousin to the 'phoons when I am done. I am going to try and make about 600 hp to the wheels at first then once all the bugs are lined out I will turn it up to maybe 800 or so.

This site has been a really good source of info and I have learned a lot already. Below are a couple pics I snapped this afternoon.

awesome :tup: . what motor mounts are you using? oil pan? is this a 4wheel drive? are your coil packs gonna clear the brake booster? keep us posted!

Yes, its a 4wd, but I am putting in an AWD T-case. I got the oil pan and mounts from TurboTime. I got the 4l80e conversion kit and the front driveshaft from George Blake.

I don't have any coilpacks yet but it looks like they are going to hit the booster and the A/C box also. I recently put on a Jeep steering shaft and I think that is going to interfere with the exhaust manifold. I bought the Corvette front accessories for my motor thinking the A/C compressor would fit, but it looks like the frame is going to have to have major surgery-nothing a sawzall and a mig can't fix lol.

Sounds good so far. It seems headers/exhaust is the limiting factor on all of these swaps ive read about. Is this going to be na or turbo? because ya know, you can always turn the manifolds around and build a crossover to run a single turbo very easy :tup:

Yes, I have a STS rearmount turbo kit that is actually for a late model Silverado-will have to fab up the piping and stuff.

The motor and tranny I am using was in another truck I had and it was supercharged so it is a proven combination. I use a 2002 truck PCM to run everything but the injectors. For fueling I use a Megasquirt ecm. I went that way because I was having trouble keeping the stock PCM happy because I was flowing too much air for the MAF to comprehend. Now I don't even run a MAF. I would like to use the Mega to control the timing but it is kinda a hassle to do on the LS1 based motors with the individual coils. You Sy/Ty guys could run the fuel and spark with it easily. (we just put one on my buddies GN)

For those of you who dont know what the Mega is......http://www.msefi.com/ I think you guys could benefit from the tuning capabilities of the Mega.
