CONGRATS on the new best Ed  ! Nice to see that the "race for eight" is officially on. Yup when you get to that level of power, it's NOT just a matter of launching the truck and keeping the gas pedal to the floor. You actually have to drive it... I have footage of the race between Matt Hoover and Jerry McCoy from the '03 NATS in Chicago where Matt almost smacked the wall right after leaving the line. Matt confessed later that was a result of not having the truck perfectly straight.

Huh - Lockrite removal is a substitute for prayer. :)

Nice run Ed - it is still early in the season.

Now you know what I mean when I say the top 4-5 trucks have the motor to run 8's, its just a matter of getting her straight down the track. You aren't the only one having these problems.

I think the key is getting her going straight then pouring on the juice up top.

Good luck Ed, and be careful!

Excellent work, I am sure your et's will get lower, and the mph get higher.

Ed, I am sure you guys thought about welding up the front diff into a spool, how come you guys didn't go that way? I think jwaller has that done on his truck, maybe he can chime in on the pros and cons of it.
Be safe.

so if you plan on using one anyway, i suggest you start doing the same thing as matt & I do. Otherwise take it out or dont put it in.

Wellll now that mines in, and would be a pain to remove... what is it you do? Just prayer? So what does an athiest like me do then.

although the thought of 140mph in these tiny trucks makes me nervouse I would like to see what this truck can do at least once! As I recall you told me " a year ago" to go max camber to help. Do I remember that correctly.
Oh by the way sweeeet time!

I just got Dean Higsons Syclone on the road and it has the lockright installed. I am not sure I like it yet it sure has some funny pulling at launch. This truck has no where near the power of yours but it should be in the low 10's. This really makes me rethink installing it in my Syclone.

I will be hitting the track this thursday to test the truck out the TC is way to tight so 4 psi launchs are all I can get out of it now but it should give me some good info as to if I want to put mine in.

How did the truck feel after it was out? Just like before easy to drive and you could adjust the radio if you wanted after launch? or is it still a two handed white knukle launch with out it? Any input from others that have it?

Thanks

after removing the lockright the run was so smoooth that the timeslip was a surprise.

to help you understand that, most often i find a new best time comes with a run that feels very smooth. meaning no feeling of spinning, not hearing the caltracs hitting, etc....

one other thing i can tell you is now with a manual steering box in it and the lockrite removed the steering effort makes you forget its not power steering.

thursday nite we saw 2 quick 8 cars get badly out of shape, 1 hit the wall. I asked harry what looked worse my bad runs or those 2 cars.
harry told me i looked worse out of shape.
It was just that violent!!!
hopefully this helps get the point accross.

I can tell you will never miss that lockrite and wont look back and wont have to lift. lol :)

Re: 9.77 @ 140.66

hey mike

long time no see!

it looked straight in the vid because it was... now that the lockright is out of the front. if you saw what had been happening you'd need a change of pants.

Seemed a little too smooth....lol....Looks like you have room for improvement on the top end. Is first gear that long, or did you re-gear it? Seemed longer then usual to me :dunno:

youll love this.

the only reason i havent pulled the chute yet:

learning how to pack it. lol :D

as for looking smooth. yes very, but good runs usually are that way.

but keep in mind we havent really begun to start making power yet.

only making 19 psi and leaving easy.

with the dif change at this power level traction isnt an issue like it was with the lockrite at the same power level.

this same power level your seeing in the video with the lockrite had the truck all over the place. Shame we dont have video of it with the instability of the lockrite.

but if you recal the video 2 years ago of the axle break, that was nothing compared to the lockrite issues.

I'm still waiting for matt to call me back about his lockrite.
