As many of you know I became the new owner of 93 Ty 0301 a couple days ago. Now begins the fun. It's got a while to go before it'll be to the point where I want it to be. But it's a capable daily driver as it sits now and for the price, I can't really ask for more. Now to the pics.

As it looked when I got it home. Dirty on the outside, even dirtier on th inside.

Washed it. and started polishing it up. I was impressed with how the paint cleaned up.

As it sits right now. I've polished the hood and top and cleaned out the interior. Will probably work on the paint some more tonight.

Re: 93 Ty 0301

I was planning on selling the current wheels immediately and throwing the stock ones back on it, but the tires on the vette wheels are new. So I'll probably keep them on there for a little while.

Thanks. I'm sure I've got a long road ahead of me with this thing. I've just gotta try to keep making forward progress.

Re: 93 Ty 0301

Well, I found my first fun thing to tackle. I drove it arund all day yesturday and the first half of the day today and then parked it in the shop. When I went back out to continue working on the paint a few minutes ago I pulled the Ty out of the shop to move some other stuff around. After moving it, I looked down and there was about a quarter sized oil spot on the shop floor. Of course, I immediately start thinking of worst case senario. I got it and I think I've found 2 spots where the leak is coming from. Here are pics of what I found. Sorry if my terminology if off, I'm still new to these trucks.

First leak I found was a the line coming from the oil pan that I believe goes to the turbo. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The second leak is where the adaptor for the remote oil filter attaches to the block.

Neither of these look to me to be something that will be horribly hard to fix. But I wouldn't mind having some input from guys that have done this before.

Good ole fashioned steam clean or power wash would do WONDERS! Get some degreaser applied everywhere before you pressure wash. You will be alot cleaner while making the repairs too.

Yeah, the underside of the engine definitely needs to be degreased and cleaned. From the looks of it, both of these leaks have been there for awhile. Is there anywhere where I can get direct replacements for the fittings/lines I'm going to need to get or do I need to just piece them together?

RPM sells a braided oil return line.

The remote lines probably just need a new seal.

Re: 93 Ty 0301

I would douse the thing in simple green and clean the hell out of it. Drive it a round for a little bit then see where the oil is coming from. If it's the turbo oil drain line then i'd just bite the bullet and buy the braided one from sytyperformance.com and be done with it for good and if it's the block filter adapter for the remote lines I personally would probably do the delete of the remote filter and all the lines to simplify the setup and minimize the amount of clutter and potential leaks in the future or you could just replace teh seals and lines there not expensive I don't think.

Cool. Thanks for the suggestions. I probably will just buy the RPM braided line for the oil return.

Re: 93 Ty 0301

I'm starting to buy the parts to fix the oil leaks. I've ordered the parts to delete the remote oil filter and cooler. I had a question before I buy the oil line. Is the oil line going in to the side of the oil pan the turbo oil return line? I could probably figure it out by going out there and getting under the truck, but I really dont feel like jacking it up tonight. I just wanted to make sure I was buying the correct line before I put the order in just to find out it was the wrong one. Thanks.

Re: 93 Ty 0301

Didn't get too much work done on the Ty this weekend, but I'll post pics of what I did do.

Intalled the new turbo to intercooler pipe that I got from berzerker. Looks alot nicer than the stock pipe.

Got the adapter to install a regular oil filter onto the block and delete the remote filter and lines. I'm waiting until I get the turbo oil return line before I put this in so I can do it all at the same time.

Took the door locks out in preparation for installing new ones. Hopefully the new ones will arrive on Tuesday.
