A/C died

the blower has stopped working. i have replaced the speed selector switch and the relay which is loctated between the blower and the accumaltor. there is no voltage going to the wire(purple) that plugs in to the blower motor. when i got the truck a week ago it only worked in high now it doesn't work at all. where does the motor get power from?

From what the GM parts guys tell me that will be the coil unit that is in between the blower and distributor. It has a plug with about six wires coming from it, it is held in place with two 7mm screws. When I bought my Ty the fan didn't work, replaced my speed control and it only worked for about six times and is broke again. Also my '92 Sonoma has quit too. '92 must have been year of the blower switches. Gotta love the General.

Unplug the relay and check for power at the terminal fed with a large red wire. If no power, look for a blown 'fuse link' at the back of the alternator or at the junction block (mounted at the center of firewall). Test by trying to stretch the fuse link wire... a bad fuse link can have a burned wire inside the insulation.

If you do have power, check the Heater/AC fuse in the fuse panel. This protects the circuit through the mode select switch and blower speed switch. 'Hi' switch position runs the relay. For all other speeds, current flows through the stepped resister that Joey is describing above.
