A HUGE shout out to SSBC brakes for customer service

A few months ago I was driving my sy which had an older ssbc front calipers and pads on it, when i heard a noise while braking. I drove the truck home and let it idle in my driveway while i investigate this issue. While idling i pressed hard on the brake pedal and this time a huge sound and the pedal sunk to the floor. I looked at my drivers side wheel and could see brake fluid everywhere. The caliper had actually snapped in half from the pressure of braking. I contacted SSBC brakes and was out in touch with Bill Cummings who was very apologetic had immediatley sent me out some new stock calipers and pads to put on the truck. Through various conversations about what I want to do with my truck he got the idea of what Im doing. Yesterday I arrive home to find 5 large boxes at my step from SSBC. Mr cummings had sent me the upgraded front dual power calipers that he had sent to be powder coated red, slotted cross drilled rotors and new pads, a full rear drum to disk conversion kit with rear calipers also powdercoated red and the slotted cross drilled rotors and pads. I am thrilled to have received all of this at no charge and this just gooes to show how rare their product malfunctions to do all of this for a customer when it does.
Thanks Bill

just be glad it wasn't while you were really needing to brake. personally, i would have preferred my upgraded brakes didn't fail in the first place. nice to see they didn't try to pull an "installer error, not our fault" kinda deal.

Sounds like hush gifts to me. Thankfully nobody got hurt.

I wonder what manufacturing step they skipped. Improper heat treatment?

Hush gifts or not.....that's one hell of a gesture. It's a shame that more company's aren't like that when a part fails.

Sounds like a stand up guy and a company with integrity.

Well obviously im sure they would rather it never happened, however things do happen but its how its handled that is important. They wanted the faulty caliper to see if it had been grinded to fit under a wheel or dropped. After seeing that it was not tampered with, it was determined that it was most likely some sort of bubble in the die casting or simply a fluke.
Any company that had this happen a lot could not give away 2G's worth of product as a "sorry". Kudos to Bill Cummings and SSBC.

I had problems with the ssbc calipers on my truck, my brake pads would actually slide out of the caliper. I sent them a few emails about it, and they gave me part# numbers for different pads, and the same thing happened again. That was over a year ago, and I have since installed the cbr ls1 brakes and have never had a problem.
