Alky kit

I am new to boosted engines and was wondering how much gain a Alky kit will gain one with a 425hp all moter/885hp with 18psi boost from blower (centerfugal syle)?
I am shoting to get 1000hp+ with a 4.3L Bowtie block, 306.1cid, and a centerfugal blower that has a max boost rating of 30psi but would like to keep it under 20psi. This blower system only boost under accelleration but while cruising down the road it dumps all boost and will be intercooled by a front mount.

Re: Alky kit

actually the most important question is what are your air inlet temps at the intake manifold? If your intercooled with C16 you may not pick up alot, but if your intercooler is insufficient or your octane choice is not controlling detonation it may help you tremendously.

BTW, what motor is making 885hp with 18psi? a V6? what supercharger are you referring to?

on 93 octane gas , 28 psi of boost, Julios kit with two injectors and pure meth.
Mats @ 22-28 psi were always from 55 to 67*F on a 80* day

Re: Alky kit

The engine I am working on is a 4.3L Bowtie Block using a 4" stroke crank, .030 over bore, 9.5:1 compression. I amd trying to get everything planed for this build befor I start buying parts. The compressor I have in mind is a P-SC1 and I will be backing it up with a big front mount I/C. Here is the specs. on the compresser:

Volute Diameter 9"
Max Supercharged HP 825
Base HP Range of Motor (Naturally Aspirated) 200-500
Max Flow (cfm) 1200
Max boost (psi) 30
Inlet Hose Diameter 3.75"
Inducer Diameter 3.37"
Exducer Diameter 6.25"
Outlet Hose Diameter 3"
Outlet I.D. 2.62"
Max Impeller RPM 62,000
Internal Step-up 4.10:1
Reverse Rotation Available Yes
Self Contained Yes
Oil Capacity 6 oz

Intake temp is something my program does not tell me. This engine is not built yet but I'm trying to work all the bugs and get as muck power as I can but be able to be drivin on the street.

Re: Alky kit

hate to tell you but you aren't gonna make 885 or 1000hp on a PSC-1. WHat heads are you using? If your software doesnt tell you air inlet temp, or manifold air temp it belongs in the trash not in something you want to make that kind of power with.

Re: Alky kit

I will be using Brodix heads. The software I am using to help build this engine is Desktop dyno 2000 Is thier a better program? This program don't like doing boosted engine dyno sims for some reason. Now for a engine management... I will be using the new FAST XFI system.

Re: Alky kit

Uhh, Desktop Dyno is not exactly the most accurate thing out there...Its just for grins, its not real...Anyone can use that software and make as much HP as a topfueler.. Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to disrespect you and your ideas. I think its cool that you want to make 1000hp on your supercharged v6. I too would really like to make 1000+hp some day with a 4.3 ish bowtie v6. But for now I just want my 4.3 to run.

Re: Alky kit

What progam are you guys using I whan to get this engine blue printed soon and whould like to start getting the parts for it.

If someone would or be willing to help me blue print this thing that has done this befor please let me know. I am just want to build this thing right and have a idea but I gess the progam I have been using is not too good. I know some of you guys here have done this before. I want this engine to be able to take a beating and not care to much.

Re: Alky kit

Most guys on here build 1:1 scale model engines and then determine via testing what the actual power is.

Computer dyno simulators are still very much guess work. The real world factor has not been added yet.

Re: Alky kit

The XFI is a great system, as long as you have a knowledgeable tuner. As for the engine blueprint and assembly, find someone who is knowledgeable with building V6s and pay to have them put it together.. Its great and all to be a part of the engine building process and try to do as much as possible, but for the non expert builders out there i would suggest learning on a 400-500hp motor not a $15k-20k 1000hp long block. Stuff that works on paper doesnt always do what you hope it would in a live enviornment.

For example, superchargers take a completely different cam profile then a turbocharged motor eventhough they are both forced induction.. All your other parts should be along the lines of a turbo/na/supercharged.

Some of my rebuilds have as many as 1 Millon miles on them and still running strong. I have build my last 4.3 but is was mild with a cam and full roller valve trian. Too bad no one that builds our engines lives close enough for me to help on it and get some pointers on it.

you need a V8 :2cents:

I beat on my stock 4.3 and it takes a licken and keeps on tickin but it never goes over 5100.
