Alternative pistons?

Ok guys, I'm in BIG trouble here.
To my chagrin, we found out that one of the piston pins (I'm not sure if it's piston #1 or #2) had crept and scoffed the cylinder wall. I'm not even sure if the pistons are the same spec (i.e. crown shape) as the original ones. I found that the pistons were an overzise .030 set. Looks like the previous owner had done some work on the truck.
So now, do I need new pistons at all? If so, are there any alternative pistons? I know that the Ty has a lower compression ratio than the regular 4.3 V6, and the piston crowns are different. The original ones are impossible to find over here, lest I order them from the states, which will set me back another three weeks. If I opt to use early-model 350 V8 pistons or those from a regular Safari/Astro/Jimmy 4.3, what mods do I need to do on the piston crowns (i.e. grinding etc.)???

TIA,
Shady

Re: Alternative pistons?

TRW Turbo pistons are what I got, there are a bunch of options, check out other people's builds on the site. Gotta get the .030 over too, unless you are gunna bore it out some more.

Re: Alternative pistons?

I'm not planning to bore it out more than that. But I wanna source the pistons locally if possible. So I need to know whether 1) I can use modified regular Jimmy/Safari/Astro pistons and 2) I can just install new pins on the existing pistons.

Re: Alternative pistons?

Ok, how about this:
The existing .030 pistons seem to be in good shape, so I'm mulling reusing them with new pins. But new pins only come with new pistons, and as far as I learned, the pins are pressed into the rods while floating in the pistons. Is there any way I could guarantee that the pins will not creep out again? Like new brass bushings in the rods, for instance?
Am I making any sense here??? :banghead:

Re: Alternative pistons?

I have 2 brand new left-over (V8 kit) MAHLE pistons with new pins and all the rings needed. In 0.030" over size. These are coated top and sides. The entire kit was over $600, but I only needed 6 of the pistons.......if you want a very good deal on a very nice pair of pistons, PM me.
