Alternative transmission?

Hey people,
I'm just floating this idea. Has any of you installed an alternative to the stock transmission into the truck? What other GM models could be possible donors?

The 4L80E is the most popular upgrade if you've got cash....

Th400...needs an adaptor for the transfer case, and you need to shorten the rear driveshaft/lengthen the front propshaft.

You can put a 6-sp in it if you want...
