Another RPM coil over install...

Got this and the C5 Z06 brakes just about wrapped up.

Sure is pretty stuff. I'll finally get to put my shiny new ZR1's on it too!

BTW, I own a powdercoating company and can coat anything you guys need. Just send me a PM. If you notice in the pic you can barely see the inner fender liner that's been coated in a semiflat black.

Double check your rotors. The C5 brake rotor has direction venting so for optimal stopping performance they need to be on the correct side. I can't see the vents in your pic, but typically the slots face towards the rear.

You could be all good as I've never seen that rotor before, but figured I would mention it.

Looks great!

P.S. make sure you got the metal bushings in your shocks or you'll be tearing it all apart again in about 50 miles.

I second this thought it appears that your rotors are on backwards. I was always told that the leading edge of the slot/holes should be in the middle forward and working its way out when the wheel is rolling forward. aka: gases/heat start at the middle of the rotor and work there way out when in forward motion. But I may be mistaken.

Even the one's that aren't slotted and drilled are directional.

Check this link out, it's very difficult to see without one in your hands, but the center section doesn't go straight out like on stock rotors, it's curved as they come up from the center.

Nice!! It's a good feeling to have nice brakes and suspension, makes you feel like you didn't skimp on anything.

Found and uploaded the same pics to my photobucket. I swear we were probably trying to post them at the same time, and mine hung. The one last pic to add is from Autoaddictions shop:

We are in agreement, his rotors are on backwards.

Re: Another RPM coil over install...

I would say double check what the rotor maker recommends for which side is which, I have a set on the sy that go one direction and a set on my grand prix that go the other. Its whatever the manufacturer recommends and maybe that's the way they rec he install his :D

My sy rotors don't have traditional vents or curved vents they have kangaroo paws :D way cooler, just wish you could see them!

You'll have to cut off the end of the axles to fit the ZR1 wheels.

How much will I have to cut off ya think?

And on the rotors, that's a subject and a half lemme tell ya.

The front rotors are on backwards in the photo as GM recommends putting them on the other way. I've already switched them. I have them on that way because I put the Baer rotors in the back and they go the other way. Looking at the front rotors you'd swear by looking at the vents through the center that they'd go the way the picture I posted shows. But none the less, I've got them on now the opposite as the photo.

Clear as mud? LOL

As for the install, it took me awhile. I'm way too anal about cleaning stuff, powdercoating stuff, etc. But with two kids and a couple of businesses I might get two hours a week to work on it. Couple those....and you've got one slow going project. :rotf:

Since each truck is different, put one wheel on w/o the little center cap, and mark it. It's gonna take a while to cut. I used a sawzall, and thick metal blade.
