Another staggered question

Sup Guys...

I recently ordered OEM Vette wheels that are 18 x 8.5 front and 19 x 10 rear. I have the list of proven tire combos that I found on the site, but I would like to go a little wider on the rear then it suggest. Here is what I was thinking.....

NITTO - INVO
275/40ZR18 These are recomended for a 9 - 10 inch wheel

and

NITTO - INVO
325/30ZR19 These are recomended for a 12 - 13 inch wheel

I have read that the rule of thumb is that tire section width changes by 0.2" for every 0.5" change in rim width, being reduced if mounted on narrower then measuring wheel and increased when mounted on wider wheels.

So......what do you guys think?

Re: Another staggered question

By using the above formula I calculated the rear tire being a 305 and the front being closer to a 270, (which isn't offered so 265)

New revs/mile are:
Front: 793.8

Rear: 789.6

Re: Another staggered question

Try tirerack.com then use specs and see if those are listed to check for overall hight. You want it to be the same.

Re: Another staggered question

I'd recommend against it, ascetics aside.

1.) The front would be fine, but the 325's on a 10" wheel will be very ballooned on the sides and not fit correctly and possibly wear unevenly.

2.) Those tire heights are approx one inch higher than stock which will change gear ratio, engine rpm's, transmission shift points.

It appears to be fine otherwise so it's up to you, but I would look for wider wheels or narrower tires.

Re: Another staggered question

Because my wheels are not the recommended widith, I can not go by the specs offered by tirerack..

My mounting these tires to more narrow wheels, they should look more like:

305/30/19
265/40/18

Using these sizes in the the 1010 calculator, there is only a .5" difference in diameter from factory. I would like to feel a little more warm and fuzzy before ordering the tires, rather then just relying on a formala I found on the net....LOL
