Another ticket in the ty today

Syty Killer :(
I lost count now of how many tickts i have had, I have only had this thing maybe a month. Its not even really my truck yet. First I was getting seat belt tickets because I was used to cops not being able to see me so easily. I finally start wearing it and I get pulled over today. I wasnt doing anything wrong so I pull over and I'm mad already because I'm tired of being harassed in this truck. He comes up and tells me he pulled me over for no front plate. My girlfriends civic hasnt had one for 2 years and she never gets pulled over, I have twice in it and my brother did once when he drove it. I told the cop that a bunch of these tickets were cheaper than a new front bumper and I never will put one on.
He goes and sits in his car to write the ticket and a magnum pulls up next to the ty and waits. Cop asks the guy if he needs something and the guy said he was waiting for me. He hands me the ticket and walks away. The guy in the magnum walks over and I find out he knows a guy I work with and also owns a Ty. So while the cop is doing his paperwork me and this guy are on the side of the road with the hood up and talking about the typhoons. So I got a $75 ticket but now I know the only other person in the nearby area that has a ty.
The judges here are usually pretty easygoing so I could probably say I just bought it and didnt have the title yet so I didnt have a front plate and they would probably drop it. But it would cost me just as much to miss work.

its $75 for no front plate?!?!?!?!

now i know theres a couple cops on here, and i would love to hear their input on this. But to me, tickets like this or tickets for window tint and other stupid shit, make me lose all respect i have for cops. I have never been ****ed with by LAPD ever! i've gotten a deserved ticket by them, but never for tint, plate, or license plate light being out. I lived in san diego for over a year, and must have driven around with expired tags for 8 months and never got pulled over.(registration was paid i just didnt put the sticker on). I come back home to my parents house, and i get pulled over 3 times in a week. once for window tint and twice for the tags. I just don't understand it, what do cops have to gain by writing fix it tickets?

I seriously want to know.

Wow, really. It's only a $10 fix-it ticket here. I've been pulled over and hassled, but haven't gotten a ticket yet, just an earfull.

Re: Another ticket in the ty today

I've been pulled over roughly 10 times for no front plate here in Texas. The plate was always in my windshield but they said it has to be on the front-most part of the vehicle. I always said o.k. but I never got a ticket for it. I've also been pulled over about a million times in my truck for speeding, which I was guilty of. It's weird though how I get picked out of a crowd in this truck when I'll be running next to Camaros and Vettes??? :bs: You would think that for such a plain-looking black truck, you would be able to slip past the po-pos a little more easily but somehow they get me every time. I guess it just comes with the truck. :dunno:

I got pulled over for no front plate a lot too when it used to be illegal here. I told 'em I wasn't drilling holes in the bumper and I asked them if they pulled over Vipers for no front plate. He said "those are rare" so I responded with "this is even more rare than a viper" Usually worked! ;) You do know that after Nov 1st of this year we don't have to have a front plate anymore right? Just checking.

I used to drive with expired inspection when I would street race alot since I could usually be cool enough with the officer that he would find the smallest thing he could write me a ticket for. A cop that was stealthy saw me get a Silvia at one light, a 300ZXTT at the next light, and a C5 at the light after that. I got a ticket for the inspection ;) Worked then, and every single other time.

Re: Another ticket in the ty today

i got pulled over four times in one week.. well actualy three times in two days of that week and one later on.. all for not having a front plate even though I had it up on the dash.

I eventually gave way and just drilled :( because after the fifth stop I figured it's not gonna end and just bite the bullet.

I've been pulled over once so far for no front plate. I just explained that I wasn't drilling into the bumper b/c its rare and pricey. He let me off with a warning but even if it was a ticket I think it was only about $50 around here.

Never been pulled over for no front plate, even though I've been stopped several times in the Sy. Cop never said anything about the front plate either time. If they gave me a fix-it ticket for this, I'd just stick the plate on the front bumper with servo tape outside of the station, have them sign it off, then take it right back off. It's not like my motorcycle has a front plate, so why should the Sy?

oh yeah, and if I ever get pulled over for no front plate, I tell the cop I have the bracket on order at my local dealership, it just hasnt come in yet and the truck is my only form of transportation :D

Re: Another ticket in the ty today

Too bad our grilles are so hard to see through, a friend of mine has his plate mounted behind the grille on his ranger and hasn't had a problem yet:2cents: I really didnt want to put a plate on the front bumper of our Sy, but there were already 2 sets of holes, one for mounting toward the middle and one toward the bottom. Stupid white WI plates:rant:

I must say even though im on the job my wife has been pulled over at least a dozen times for doin nothin and also for abusing the privledges and ive been pulled over a bunch also but with me its different I like to f**k with them by doin more stuff then pull over and then get off, my wife calls the truck a pig magnet. as far as the front plate is concerned yes you must have the plate fixed permanetly to the front bumper or you will get a ticket especially in NY.

that is an excellent excuse, as long as you put a little humor in it and just be a little submissive 99.9% of the time the cop will let you off, and it also helps if the cop likes the truck, which has happened to me a couple of times.

One of the few advantages living in Indiana, they don't even issue front plates.

When I lived in WA, got 1 verbal warning for ty, no plate. Got written, come to station to inspect in my 67 camaro. Used velcro for that one to pass. :)

Re: Another ticket in the ty today

im sure you can find a place on the bumper and use some heavy duty tie wraps to hold it on so that you dont have to drill holes in the bumper. :2cents:
