anybody replace a distributer pickup

I have been working on a friends truck for 2 weeks and have all of the bugs have been worked out except for one ,,,,, it won,t start when it is hot. .the Tp shows i have rpm and inj pulse but not a kick, when it does start my TP values display doesn.t show any spark adv to ref pulse but i have rpm showing but it acts real lazy , and as i rev it up the spark adv to ref to pulse all of a sudden starts and the truck picks up and it acts normally. it does this consistently. i can drive it all day tuning and all is well. stop it when it is hot and no start , It doesn,t matter if i try putting my foot in it when cranking either , no start.as it cools down it will start. I know i always post the most remote ? but i appreciate any help thks

Save the Time and aggravation and change the whole thing out

there were MSD's knockoff on ebay a while back for like $70 a piece, funny thing is that the last yr 2 of my stock dist died (swapped out ignition module before swapping the unit out).

Knock off dist, saved my ass 2 times

Just throwing it out there but it couldn't possibly be the purple starter wire getting to hot?

thats what my truck did when I went to 50# injectors. Had a few people helping me with the tune, cold it would start up fine, when it was at operating temp and shut down, you couldnt get it to restart without a little starter fluid. I always assumed it was just dumping too much fuel but never had a chance to prove it.
