Atmel Chip issues...

My atmel chip erased itself one day. I can't find my original bin file. All I can find is a chip dump I did which is 32 KB, which is the whole chip instead of just the half of the chip 16 KB.

I run my emulator with the 32 KB and it runs fine. I tried burning this 32 KB file to the Atmel with the chip start at 000000 it doesn't work. And if I space it correctly at 4000 it doesn't work either?

What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?

Re: Atmel Chip issues...

All my spare chips have disappeared to another local SY/TY owners house. I will have to hunt him down and borrow one back.

Re: Atmel Chip issues...(revised)

I have the new chips now. AT29C256 90PI 0446 The burner will not burn a chip that works. I am using a MODE EP, have the correct device type pick. Have the Chip start at 00004000. Took the board out of my computer and reinstalled it. Nothing worked. Turn the key on the ty and the IC pump comes on and that is all. I have tried multiple bin files also.

Thanks in advance..

Re: Atmel Chip issues...

You probably tried to burn the 32k file starting at 0000.

Maybe your burner is bad? Does your burner need a driver upgrade? What type is it?

If you are in a bind, send me the bin. I'll burn a chip and mail it to you.

FWIW, I ran my truck full time on an emulator for a year or so, without problems.

Re: Atmel Chip issues...

I tried the normal bins I have. Even though I do not have a stock turbo, the 50# programs should still be fine at idle. Fires real quick and dies immediately.

Mode EP burner... I am stealing a new ribbon cable from work to see if that will fix it..

If not what burner are you running?

Re: Atmel Chip issues...

It sounds like the burner is not writing or the ECM is not reading the chip at all. When I have no chip in my ECM, the fans kick on (my fan are on the IC pump circuit). I have never had any problem with the Atmel chips (just user errord ) If you want to send me a chip I can check it to see if has a program on it (test the burner) or I can burn you a 50# chip to see if its the ECM or Connector issue.

Re: Atmel Chip issues...

I hook the Emmulator through the same ECU, and piggyback board and it works fine. The only difference when I emmulate is the chip itself. Burner had to die, I will burn my bud a new chip and see if it works on his.
