I have never autocrossed before but I would like to try it. My truck is almost finished however I have not tackled the suspension yet. I plan on going to the Shindig and would like to put the Sy on the track. One of the first things I plan on doing is the brakes, already did the abs delete and stainless lines. I have the CBR kit ready to install my c6 brakes, but other than that nothing has been done suspension other than caltracs and 2" drop blocks. I havent decided if I will bring the truck up there on my 2010 Camaro SS wheels with 4 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's 285/30/20 or my Black Chrome C5 Z06 wheels with 4 Bridgestone Potenza REO1R's 245/45/18. I really want to get new shocks but not sure of what to get. Zq8 box is also in the plans if I have time. What other Autocrossing mods would you suggest, part numbers please.

Quick accelleration and no body roll when turning will put you where you want to be . Large front and rear sway bars with matching front and rear coilovers will be money well spent . The quick ratio steering box and upgraded brakes help , but time saved in a run comes from smooth driving in and out of the turns .

And Twin Turbo headers will help also......LOL

Coil-overs in the front, qa1's in the rear would be good so you can adjust your dampening. ^big sway bars, and sticky meats.

Get as low as possible. Get as much front and rear sway bar on as possible. Move weight back anywhere you can. Run a couple degrees negative camber on the front along with some toe out. Get some sticky tires and get them hot with ~45psi in the front. That will get you started.Try to focus on driving smooth, not darting from corner to corner. Have someone video as much as possible to improve skills.

You're screwed no matter what you do. A truck is just never going to corner like Miatas, Mini Coopers, STI or an Evo. I would just have fun with it the way it is. To be competitive/serious about autocross you need something else. With all the mods that are listed thats going to put you in a class that you will not even be close to competing in. Autocross is broken down into very strict classes based off of mods. A ford focus with the same mods will destroy our trucks.
None the less there has been some good advice given. Go out have fun and show people what SyTy power is made of.

Good shocks, big sway bars, and sticky tires are your best money spent for mods.

Best money spent overall is on driving school. You'll drop the most time with the fewest dollars spent. Guaranteed.

Thanks guys. I have my brakes and my zq8 on the way. Does anyone know the part number for the rear sway bar? Or does anyone have one they can let me buy/rent/borrow.
Also what is a part number for good rear shocks? I have factory bilstiens on it now.

tires tires tires!! i had some kuhmo v710's dropped an easy 3- 5 seconds off my time. steering box is a good mod. a vacum canister or hydoboost set up would be good. i have problems boost launching then haveing a rock hard brake pedal for the first corner. its fun when u can keep up or be right on peoples heals in regard to time.

High temp brake fluid will help with fade if the course is long enough to cause it.

Good tips guys. Anybody know anything about sway bars? Part numbers?

I have found 2 sets of brakes and I don't know which one to get.

C6 vette brakes everything thing included minus brackets(calipers need to be pc'd)=$400 shipped

C5 ZO6 brakes everything included with wilwood pads= $450

Which would be the best bet? Which would you choose?

i just bought one off of ebay. Search zq8 rear sway bar. Make sure it is off a pickup- not blazer

C6 Brakes are going to be bigger and better, but means a minimum of 18" wheel, while the C5's will clear 17's.

I don't have any wheels smaller than 18's so no worries there. However I believe the C6 and C5 Z06 brakes are the same size and I need to buy 4 brackets (for the C6's)as well as powder coat them red or black.

Does anyone know if the 2010 Camaro SS brakes will bolt up using the CBR kit?
