AWD binding up like 4wd

Alright, I have noticed that when turning the truck in a very tight circle, the truck binds up and pops just like a normal 4wd truck would on dry asphalt. almost feels like in an awd dsm where they've broke the center diff. and welded it up into 4wd, but I wasn't aware you could do that with a sy/ty xfer case. After talking to e, he confirmed what I had read in the service manual that when it goes out it should slip, not bind. Anyone have any idea whats going on with my truck?

Back in the day when my truck actually ran, I noticed the same 'binding' you refer to especially when in reverse and heavy steering angles.. Not so much in forward gears.. I know my Tcase was/is working just fine.. Chances are yours is as well.. I'd drain the fluid.. Make sure there is nothing 'suspect' going on and drive it....

Most syty I have driven seem to do this as well. I noticed it evert time I drove my Sy & Ty to my last job as the parking lot had a lot of sand on the pavement.

Yep I do notice it more in reverse also. It just seemed weird beacuse non of the other 3 awd cars I've owned/own do this, and I didn't recall any of the other syty's I test drove doing this. Oh well, like you said I was planning on draing the fluid and going thourgh most everything this winter since I don't think the ty is going anywhere with bald summer tires.

Thanks for the help guys.

If the front tires are walking over them selves in tight turn, I found it was the rear diff.
Gov locker is damaged thus causing it to be possi all the time.
Inspect the weight system of the gov-lock making sure it spins all the time as you spin the yoke (drive shaft out) for this test !!!
